A departure from my multi-personality series, "She, the Ananthous" will explore more organic and textured imagery. Characters born of earth, stone, flora and feather will serve as guides through the twist and lilt of forest dark. Pulling inspiration from decay, beauty from the bereft, "She, the Ananthous" will serve as an eerie fable of mother nature's oddities.

Ok, this was such a close second choice for my 365 shot today. I had to post it too. I think I might actually have been growling/purring at the camera when this one was taken. Ha. I'm such a mynx. Or a dork. One or the other.

Yeah, I decided to use this outtake for my other 365 today. So here it is.

Sometimes I find crazy makeup looks online that I mimic or adapt for my shots. Today, I just started painting myself and letting it go where it wanted to go. And I think the result turned out pretty cool, if I do say so myself.

Yeah. This was my favorite outtake from yesterday's 365 shoot and I think it is a great expression of "air" for this week's Theme of the Week: Elements. So there you go.

Woo! Double-whammy! This is my submission for this week's emulation challenge in My Face is My Canvas AND for Musically Challenged. Lots of outtakes. I really liked how these turned out.

Andy and I are just relaxing in front of a blazing fire, watching football. It's been a lazy, wonderful weekend. Not looking forward to going back to work tomorrow. *le sigh*

Hey, they can't all be masterpieces, eh? Not happy with how this turned out. But then, I really wasn't too inspired today, so I guess it shows.

Fine, fine. You guys win. You always win. Here is the alternate shot. I paired it with another lyric from the same song by Sara Bareilles. Did you listen yet? www.youtube.com/watch?v=0z9ouIZY8J0

And if you haven't already, go check out the version of this that I used for my 365 today.

Edit: ok, I really don't love any of the non-selfie shots I took today, so I'm making this my shot for my other 365. Don't hate. It's not the exact same shot that I used for my 365 Days. :P

Do me a favor and watch this all the way through: www.youtube.com/watch?v=0z9ouIZY8J0

I love Sara Bareilles. Her voice paired with her piano playing just melts my soul and turns me into some kind of musical jelly. I've gone through different phases where one of her songs gets stuck on play in my jeep and I simply cannot stop replaying it and singing it at the top of my lungs. This song in particular takes me straight back to Kansas during the time when we were scrambling, trying to find a way to make the move back home to Michigan. I was unhappy and it felt desperate, like we would never find a way to make it work. This song let me sing my frustrations and get that emotional release I so needed. The line I chose for this shot comes late in the song. It goes like this:

Red letter day and I'm in a blue mood.

Wishing that blue would just carry me away.

I've been talking to God, don't know if it's helping or not,

but surely something has got to got to got to give

cause I can't keep waiting to live.

I can't even type it, knowing the way the music sounds at this point in the song, without tears coming to my eyes. It so perfectly voiced my own frustrations at the time, that I felt like this part of the song was written for me. And I think I will always associate that time in my life with these lyrics, and will probably always get emotional when I listen to this song.

Please go listen.

Outtake from yesterday. The more I look at this one, the more I like it. Seems like quite a few of you did too. Black and white conversion just seems to do something special to certain images, doesn't it?

I'm not sure how or why this idea popped into my head, but it came to me last night while I was brushing my teeth. It didn't come out exactly as I had planned, but I kind of like it anyway. I'll post a few alternates in the comments. Oh, and Auggie was thrilled when I brought the peanut butter out to stick on all of the little leaves. He knows when he's a good boy and waits quietly, that I'll let him lick the spoon. :)

I didn't run today. I feel guilty about it, I do. But I woke up doubled over in pain from an awful stomach ache. I still feel iffy and gross. I'm giving myself a pass. Unfortunately, that means that even if (when) I run tomorrow, I'm going to be one day short of my weekly goal. Which sucks. But I can't beat myself up over it. I know I'm doing really well, and I'll still be running next week. So yeah...stupid tummy ache.

That's right, folks. I'm back. Did you miss me while I was sans internet on my camping trip? I feel a little out of sorts right now. I'm going to need to spend some time catching up on your streams. It feels good to be back home with my face paint, though. :) Thought I'd finish August off with one of these shots since I had stick to pretty simple on the camping trip.

I am still so freaking exhausted today. I slept for about eleven hours and I still feel like I'm dragging myself around in a daze. Oh, and to everybody who asked I'm feeling MUCH better as far as my stomach issues from last week and also the mouth/lymph node agony. Thank god. That was some serious pain and misery. I'm glad it started clearing up and improving on the first day of the trip or I would have had a horrible time.

I still have more pictures from the trip to upload, but I figure I'll try to do that slowly, here and there, rather than just bombarding you all. :)

Gotta love all the different colored converse there are out there

Also Gotta love my sisters quotes

"UGH...This One looks like I have cellulite!!!.......TAKE IT OFF!"

Cough cough cough, hack hack hack. That's about all you'll hear in the house today. I'm exhausting myself from the constant coughing. Andy's parents, brother and sister-in-law have a an early birthday dinner planned for him tonight and I'm going to have to bow out because I don't want to get anybody sick. Fingers crossed I'm doing better by tomorrow so that I can hang out with the flickr crew and take pictures in Vic's box.

So I tried some face art today using watercolor paints. Emily Christine tipped me off to using those. And they worked great. Except that the red didn't really wash off all the way, so now I really look creepy sans makeup but with big, red-rimmed eyes. Awesome.

I hope the rest of you are having significantly better weeks than I am. I feel like a broken record constantly talking about how bad I feel, but eff it. That's really the only thing happening in my world this week. You know how it is when you're sick. I'm going to try to convince Andy to pick up some Emergen-C for me when he goes out to dinner tonight. Hopefully that'll do the trick.

Tons of outtakes in comments because I'm not thinking clearly enough to make a decision today, so you get to peek at all of them.

I did some face painting today. It's been a while. Unfortunately, the shots I wound up liking the best really don't show the face paint too much. So it goes sometimes, eh? Andy chose this shot as his favorite. And since I pretty much always trump him and stick his favorite in the comments as an alternate, I decided to switch it up today. Maybe he knows better than I do, right? (coughfatchancecough). ;)

We went for a ridiculously long kayak ride today. All the way around the lake and through the channel into the lake next to ours. And it is W-I-N-D-Y!!! In case you hadn't figured it out, kayaking into the wind is sheer torture. So I'm about to kick my feet up and find something good on tv for the rest of the day. :)

Edit to add: I just noticed that today's TRP is Dark Fairytales! What a coincidence! :)

I finally did something again. It's been almost a year since my last photo. There has been a long stretch of time since I tried to do anything, I know this isn't the best but I needed to get my feet wet again. Living in a new place leaves me with less space then what I'm used to from before. Hopefully I can get back into the swing of things. I do miss sharing.

This is all done with makeup.

It's inspired by the title of Kate Nash's album 'Made of Bricks' (and also kinda by Harvey Dent in Batman: The Dark Knight)

So here I am, kinda half made of bricks haha

Okay so this was just random, the idea popped into my head and I was bored :P

Dare I say it, possibly for the first time ever I'm actually quite pleased with one of my pictures.

I said quite :P

Not going to whine and complain. Which leaves me without much to talk about today. But also means that tomorrow will be better. Because it has to be. There's always a silver lining.

🌱Spring always makes my heart sing. There's the first flights of cranes, caressing our rooftops in a V formation... Fascinating spectacle ! There's the first flowers, piercing through the snow and sparkling the sleepy ground with yellow, white, pink and purple. But my favorite are plum, peach and cherry blossoms... trees put on their most beautiful outfit and are ready for the ball !🌱

I honestly couldn't pick between these two photos today. Even Andy was undecided. So I'm leaving it to you folks to let me know which you like better. The idea was born from some processing I did last night while I was bored. I worked over one of my shots from yesterday with the blue face paint and did a similar edit with a blue background and frame and decided it would be fun to do color themed shots this week. But Picnik is being a bitch and only saves my edits maybe 15% of the time right now. I was lucky to get these ones done today. The one from yesterday never saved. Even a couple minutes ago. And I'm sick of redoing the processing.

So anyway, let me know whether you prefer this one or the alternate. I'm in a foul mood today because the wasp stings I got on Sunday when Amy and Cyndi were over have gotten worse. I can't even bend my middle finger on my left hand because it's so swollen. And now the swelling is spreading into my hand. It's super fabulous, let me tell you. And my toe is bright red and itching and burning like crazy. I'm a hot mess. Let me know if you have any home remedies for stings besides baking soda and water, calamine lotion, ice, benadryl, advil or toothpaste. I'll try anything.

My mom. ..I wanted to try and take a shot of my mom like the other photos I've taken of myself. And she got a good laugh at the finished product. She was surprised her eyebrows could even look like that, she pretty much has none so it was easy to exaggerate. Only thing I wish I had for her was a black dress or shirt with a high collar to make her look more menacing. And out of all the photos I shot of her, this was the only one that she wasn't smiling in.. heh. "Mom, look mean!!, give me a sad face." I had fun doing this with her. <3
