"I was born on February 3 in Accra. I am a quiet person who cannot stand disappointment.

"I had to drop out of school after completing junior high. My uncle, Mr. Gefia, who lived at Suhum in the Eastern Region of Ghana, took me to live with him for a while. There I learned how to carve, which was a trade he was engaged in. I improved tremendously and was invited by my relative, Mr. Victor Delanyo – a Novica-featured artisan – to Accra.

"During this visit, Victor realized how good I was in carving. But he believed I should learn the art of designing the carved items and suggested his desire to train me. I was so enthused! I accepted and, although I wouldn't say I have mastered the art of designing, I have improved tremendously. I know that with consistent practice, I'll get there.

"I use sese wood, acrylic paints, beads and leather for my works, and these materials can easy to be obtained in our local market, except for the wood which I must often travel long distances to obtain. I am inspired mostly by nature and social life.

"My desire has been to further my education and to give my children the best in terms of education to whichever height they want to attain. I would also create the opportunity to train people who desire to learn this craft, as well as assisting less privileged people to have a means of creating their livelihood."

Took a shot of this guy in Milano. Making pretty flowers out of regular veggies and smoking at the same time! Maestro!

This is not an alien life form or a hedgehog. It's a loaf of artisan bread I made myself. I've made about 10 loaves in the past week, and I'm getting better at it!

Stopped for lunch at Lyme Park (Pemberley for the Austen fans) while travelling back from Honeymoon.

We had a hot-pot of beef, lamb and venison, followed by this open sandwich of estate venison and finishing with cappuccino ice cream.

A lovely meal and very nicely presented.

On June 13-15, 2017, the Clinton Foundation and J/P Haitian Relief Organization (J/P HRO) brought leaders from the retail, fashion, and fragrance sectors to visit partners in Haiti with the goal of developing new sourcing opportunities and forming new business partnerships with Haitian artisans and business owners.

Here, members of the delegation visit the Design, Organization, Training Center (D.O.T), which was created by Donna Karan, Urban Zen, the Parsons School of Design, and Haitian artisan and businesswoman Paula Coles to help bridge Haiti’s traditional artisan techniques with the modernity and design innovation needed to succeed in today’s global marketplace.

The D.O.T and Paula Coles are active members of the Women Economic Participation Program (WEPC), which works to advance the economic participation of women in Haiti’s economy and promote women as important business leaders, empowered employees, and dynamic entrepreneurs through a range of business support services aimed at both the entrepreneurs and their employees. The Clinton Foundation has worked closely with Donna Karan and Urban Zen to revitalize the Haitian artisan sector since 2010.

Additionally, they met representatives from the Ethical Fashion Initiative (EFI), which was founded in 2009 to connect artisans from the developing world to the international value chain of fashion. In doing so, EFI harnesses fashion as a vehicle for development.
