Jason Pamental from H+W Design is wrapping up his talk on Web fonts at the ARTIFACT Conference in Austin.
So titled because I neglected to take notes and/or pay attention, so I don't have an idea as to what the subject in this photograph is.

Oct 2004 Leon Shoulders’ heirs who sold state Castalian Springs mound
I'm not sure what this was but it was here when the railroad was still running.
Built by the New Haven & Northampton, this bit was abandoned in 1981.
After being spurned at the art museum (they had closed the one exhibit that Heather had wanted to see) we instead went to a Roman ruin which was in the basement of a nearby building. These are a few of the artifacts they had on display.
After the wood was bored and wrapped in metal, they pipes were dunked in tar to seal it. You can see the tar on the straps.
Almost nothing is recorded about this artifact, save that it entered the collection in 1943 and is a piece of something larger. If you think you may know something more, please contact us!
