Yesterday, I happened upon my first psuedoscorpion, then another, then another! They are truly amazing creatures. Unfortunately, the pictures aren't as good as I'd like, because these guys are only about 2mm long, which is really too small for my lens. Series below.

National Butterfly Center, Mission, Hidalgo County, Texas

This one just recently molted, crawled out of its exoskeleton. This species stays underground for only 1 to 2 years, before it emerges from the ground and mates.

A different species called the 17 year cicada, stays underground for 17 years before emerging from the ground. Watch this video:

Large spider in my office. Not my favourite animal but I thought I'd try out a macro picture before releasing him into the wild.
