Because it is far away from finished, I put Miss Rococo in the wardrobe, away from light in case her white silk corset turns yellow. As a result, I don’t see her frequently in the house. Every time I saw her, it surprised me like ‘wow! I almost forget I have this beautiful doll. ’

Made a new bench for the upcoming Alice in Underland fullset. The bench was planned two years ago. I canceled it early this year since I didn’t think I could finish it in time. However, the flamingo took me much more time than expected. Since I am already late, it doesn’t hurt to make one more bench. 😅

Maybe you knew me from the side of ‘delicate’, ‘elegant’ and ‘fashion’, but if you have seen my Alice in Underland series made between 2010-2012, you will know I am more than that. To me, ‘delicate’ is the base, what more important are creativity and thoughts behind the surface.

In late 2010, I was inspired by a picture of Venus flytrap. I thought I could make heart-shaped flytraps for a headless queen of hearts. Actually, I named my first porcelain doll ‘Venus’ not directly after the Goddess or the planet ‘Venus’, but after the Venus flytrap. Then in order to match the flytrap, I decided to make a green gown for the queen. Having seen so many RED ‘red queen’, I need to break the rules if I want to impress the audience.

However, beyond all my expectations, it took me 8 years to achieve this concept. As an untrained self-taught artist, I needed to overcome many difficulties both on the designs and on the technics, challenging myself to do things that no one had thought and done before. During that time, I was treated like an underdog by a fellow doll maker and was not supported by my family, so I was hoping to finish this piece to prove myself. Every time I thought how it looks like when the whole chapter finished, it felt so exciting that my heart almost lost a beat. However, this kind of hope eventually became heavy stresses, which made me disappointed and anxious. I was fearing I could not make it work, fearing all the years of hard working was just a 24-hour long topic on the social media, fearing my life wouldn’t change at all.

Luckily, I got support from friends really like me, and was appreciated by the expert collectors. And I finally understood it was not the only work of mine. Finished it is not an end, but a new beginning. Begin to let you know, beside those delicate fashion dolls, what’s truly I can offer.

Finally, another piece of the full set is finished. This is what it looks like without the white cape. When I first designed the dress, I wanted it to be simple because there have been a lot of decorations on the cape already. However, ‘simple’ doesn’t mean ‘boring’. New Mini doll: Very ruff test casting in plasticrete (air bubbles, missing edges and un-sanded seams) but she poses like a DREAM!
It's taking me longer to prime this munchkin than I had originally hoped, because of some issues I've had with primers... I started off using a previously unopened can of Vallejo that I must have had since 2013, which was just fine. When it ran low, I went online to buy more, only to find that there didn't seem to be a single can in stock anywhere in the UK! In the end, I opted to buy some via Amazon, to be shipped from Italy. It arrived quickly and all seemed well - it sprayed on nicely and all. However, when I set about sanding it (I use wet sandpaper), the colour of the primer started to take on a green tinge?! I can't work out if Vallejo have changed the formula, or whether the can I bought may have been adversely affected somehow? - By heat, or something, perhaps?! I've since ordered another can, this time from Poland, but it hasn't arrived yet >_< I'm also going to pick up some Tamiya primer this week as well, just in case. I haven't worked with Tamiya before, only because its toxicity scares me... so I've also ordered what I hope is a reliable respirator!! Gah, I really want to just get her done and away!!!

Друзья, я рада наконец-то открыть вам над чем, а точнее над кем, я корпела последние несколько месяцев! Знакомьтесь - Арвен Ундомиэль! Работать над ней было очень непросто, но, в то же время, я получила огромное удовольствие, так как очень люблю и книгу, и фильм "Властелин колец". Кукла, конечно же, сделана из фарфора, ее рост - 33,5 см (около 13 дюймов). В течение февраля я надеюсь полностью закончить ее образ и тогда эта кукла будет доступна для покупки!
