Romain Froquet est un artiste peintre et dessinateur né en 1982 à Villeurbanne (France). Il s’installe à Paris en 2000 et intègre le collectif 9ème Concept qui va lui permettre de se révéler artistiquement. Romain Froquet vit et travaille actuellement à Paris depuis une quinzaine d’années.

Un univers en perpétuelle évolution,

L’artiste est très inspiré par l’art tribal africain et sud-américain. Ses créations sont avant tout figuratives, principalement axées sur des portraits, des statues et des masques africains. Il s’inspire de grands artistes tels que Picasso, Basquiat, Klimt, Haring, Combas… et de la calligraphie chinoise qui induit un travail autour du mouvement et de la répétition d’une gestuelle pour aboutir à la maîtrise parfaite du trait.

Avec le collectif 9ème concept, Romain Froquet se révèle. Il trouve son propre style : une écriture fluide, organique et poétique.

Progressivement son travail évolue vers l’abstraction. Les rares éléments figuratifs encore présents dans ses œuvres font référence à des symboles auxquels il tient. Nous retrouvons la symbolique de l’arbre: une métaphore de la condition humaine, les yeux: le miroir de l’âme, ou encore la porte: qui représente toutes celles qu’il a ouvert au travers de ses collaborations artistiques et de ses voyages et qui a contribué à nourrir son art. Dans ses œuvres il veut mettre en lumière l’ambivalence inhérente à l’être humain.

As the saga of my packing continues, I decided to take my daily photo today with one of my most prized works of art. I found this gem at the Vatican Museum, in the way to view the Sistine Chapel, while in Rome. It is a lith-silkscreen on hand made paper. I carefully carried it on the rest of my trip and then brought it home and had it professionally framed. I really like the end result and it means so much to me.

My undergrad degree is in Art History and I spent 3 weeks traveling through Italy and France to see a great deal of the art work I had studied in college. So many masterpieces brought me to tears.

Michelangelo is one of my 3 most favorite artists of all time. I bought opera glasses so I could use them in the Sistine Chapel to be able to view all of the detail of the ceiling and the wall. I must have sat there for an hour as groups filed in and left, while the guard kept repeating "Silenzio" as these slack-jawed travelers walked into this sacred chapel talking loudly, looking up, and moving on.

With this shot, I pay homage to the Italian Master!

This product is made with hand crafted paper using the centuries old technique of soaking the hemp and then mixing it with other plant fibers, earthen materials, and natural pigments. The paper mixture is spread on a frame to flatten and then dried in open air. The new paper is then worked by hand and printed with the art image.

Churchill school includes a sound studio, a working woodshop, metal fabrication studio gallery space and multiple artist studio spaces and the cafeteria has become a new music venue regularly hosting musical artists from throughout the PNW
