Every part of the DEEPSEA CHALLENGER is built to withstand the crushing pressure of the deep.
LED lighting arrays are inserted into the egg-crate-like holders in the side of the sub. Each array has a diaphragm compensating system, which allows silicon fluid to fill any air pockes inside the array.
The LED lighting system on DEEPSEA CHALLENGER is 2.4 metres tall, enabling Cameron to light his way across the seabed and capture the detailed 3D digital footage as he went.

The Orion spacecraft for Artemis II, the first crewed mission to the Moon in over 50 years, is now equipped with its powerful solar wings. Built and attached by European engineers, these four, seven-metre-long solar arrays are attached to ESA's European Service Module, rotating to absorb the most sunlight and provide essential power to Orion and its crew as they travel to the Moon and back.
The solar arrays were manufactured by engineers at Airbus in the Netherlands and were sent to the United States in 2023. Since then, they have been through rigorous testing, including an acoustic test that simulates the intense vibrations at launch. Last week, engineers from Airbus installed the four solar arrays at NASA's Kennedy Space Center. They carefully secured each wing with 16 hold-down mechanisms to ensure stability during launch; once in orbit, an electrical current will trigger deployment, allowing the panels to unfold automatically.
With the solar wings now installed, the next step is to add protective fairing panels around the European Service Module. Once Orion reaches space, these panels will detach, and the solar arrays will unfold to greet the Sun's light, powering the spacecraft.

The hammerhead shark's signature hammer houses a wide array of sensory organs used to hunt down its prey as well as for allowing more stereoscopic vision for which to hone in on it. These sardines are lucky he gets fed by the aquarium staff or it would be more than instinct telling them to scatter when the shark wanders over to school.

The Combined Array for Research in Millimeter-wave Astronomy (CARMA) was an astronomical instrument comprising 23 radio telescopes. These telescopes formed an astronomical interferometer where all the signals are combined in a purpose-built computer (a correlator) to produce high-resolution astronomical images. The telescopes ceased operation in April 2015 and were relocated to the Owens Valley Radio Observatory for storage.
Entirely unique on this planet, the pronghorn's scientific name, Antilocapra americana, means "American antelope goat." But the deer-like pronghorn is neither antelope nor goat -- it is the sole surviving member of an ancient family dating back 20 million years.
The pronghorn is the only animal in the world with branched horns (not antlers) and the only animal in the world to shed its horns, as if they were antlers. The pronghorn, like sheep and goats, has a gall bladder, and like giraffes, lacks dewclaws. If that weren't enough, the pronghorn is the fastest animal in the western hemisphere, running in 20-foot bounds at up to 60 miles per hour. Unlike the cheetah, speedburner of the African plains, the pronghorn can run for hours at quite a fast pace.

You become things, you become an atmosphere, and if you become it, which means you incorporate it within you, you can also give it back. You can put this feeling into a picture. A painter can do it. And a musician can do it and I think a photographer can do that too and that I would call the dreaming with open eyes.

In its fully expanded state, the observatory's array baseline stretches to 22.3 miles across - that's one big antenna! I had a thoroughly enjoyable time wandering around the locale with my camera and tripod; being excited to explore a spot that I have read of in encyclopaedias since childhood.
