This little harvest mouse couldn't decide whether the yellow bit of the flowers would make a tasty snack.
some sad news I have been expecting arrived yesterday ...
my dear Aunt Mal passed after battling cancer for many years ..
she had a good life and lived her entire life in Wales .. . she loved horses and farms .
when she discovered she had cancer she immediately arranged to hike the Pennine Way .. . this National Trail chases along the mountain tops along the rugged backbone of England and offers 268 miles of the finest upland walking in England. A once in a lifetime experience.
her energy and laughter and encouragement will be with me forever .. some special light never dies .. I miss her already ..

Commonly known as moth orchids, is a genus of about seventy species of orchids in the family orchid. Orchids in this genus are monopodial epiphytes or lithophytes with long, coarse roots, short, leafy stems and long-lasting, flat flowers arranged in a flowering stem that often branches near the end. Orchids in this genus are native to India, China, Southeast Asia, New Guinea and Australia with the majority in Indonesia and the Philippines. A few to many, small to large, long-lasting, flat, often fragrant flowers are arranged on erect to hanging racemes or panicles. The sepals and petals are free from and spread widely apart from each other. The lateral sepals are usually larger than the dorsal sepal and the petals much wider than the sepals. The labellum is joined stiffly to the column and has three lobes. The side lobes are erect and more or less parallel to each other and the middle lobe sometimes has a pair of appendages or antennae. 54107

Eriostemon australasius commonly known as pink wax flower is a plant in the citrus family Rutaceae and is endemic to eastern Australia. It is an erect, bushy shrub with narrow oblong leaves, and pink flowers with five petals in late winter and early spring. Eriostemon australasius is an erect, bushy shrub which grows to a height of 1–2 m. It has simple leaves that are narrow oblong in shape, 20–80 millimetres long, 8–14 millimetres long and are covered with tiny star-like hairs when young, although the hairs may only be visible with a magnifying glass. The flowers are arranged singly in leaf axils, mostly near the ends of the branches, on a stalk 4–12 millimetres long. At the base of each flower are five to twelve sepal-like bracteoles. There are five pink to reddish petals which are about 18 millimetres long and are covered with similar hairs to those on the leaves, but become smooth with maturity. Flowering occurs in late winter and early spring. Pink wax flower grows in heathland and dry eucalyptus woodlands from Lake Conjola on the New South Wales south coast northwards along the coast to Fraser Island in Queensland. 40003
Gordonia is a genus of flowering plants in the family Theaceae, related to Franklinia, Camellia and Stewartia. Of the roughly 40 species, all but two are native to southeast Asia in southern China, Taiwan and Indochina. They are evergreen trees, growing to 10–20 m tall. The bark is thick and deeply fissured. The leaves are alternately arranged, simple, serrated, thick, leathery, glossy, and 6–18 cm long. The flowers are large and conspicuous, 4–15 cm diameter, with 5 (occasionally 6-8) white petals; flowering is in late winter or early spring. The species are adapted to acidic soils, and do not grow well on chalk or other calcium-rich soils. They also have a high rainfall requirement and will not tolerate drought. 59879

As typical on anticyclonic winter days, the valleys and plains of neighboring Carinthia alpine region are covered by dense low clouds (Stratus) accumulated by a weak north-east current.
Due to the light flow these stratus clouds enter the valleys arranged from N/E towards S/W and press on the mountain passes; these masses are cold and humid, therefore "heavy", as if representing a vast mass of water, they cannot climb steep mountain slopes, while they seek an easy transfer through the lower areas of a mountain range or at the junction between 2 different ranges.
For this reason the Alpine passes and saddles, where the air masses from different areas cross and converge, are decidedly interesting from a meteorological and microlimatic point of view.
Among other things, the cloudy/foggy mass has waves, always referring to the water which well represents the movements of dense and heavy air, which at times cover the area, leaving the ice crystals that make up these clouds on all surfaces, for then withdraw and let the phenomenon be appreciated.

For the Macro Mondays theme: knolling. It is 3in wide.
Knolling is the process of arranging similar objects in parallel or at 90 degree angles as a method of organisation. The term was first used in 1987 by Andrew Kromelow, a janitor at Frank Gehry's furniture fabrication shop. At the time, Gehry was designing chairs for Knoll, a company famously known for Florence Knoll's angular furniture. Kromelow would arrange any displaced tools at right angles on all surfaces, and called this routine knolling, in that the tools were arranged in right angles—similar to Knoll furniture.
I feel like a failed "knoller". The smaller pearls wouldn't line up straight and the other beads differed in size so it was also difficult to line them up in a straight line.
HMM and happy new week!
Thanks for visiting. I am very grateful to those who take the time to comment or fave.
Although the ascent to Markovište and the Catholic chapel is easy, because the path is arranged and there are stations of the "Way of the Cross" on it, the second part of the ascent to the top itself is very tricky. There is no path, and the way to the top consists of a climb over sharp limestone rocks overgrown with young shoots of hornbeam and ash trees. You should be careful on this climb, because even a small mistake can result in fatal consequences. The highest peak of Klobuk hill is only 478m above sea level.
The redness had seeped from the day and night was arranging herself around us. Cooling things down, staining and dyeing the evening purple and blue black.”

These images arranged in a composite are from my recent Blue Ridge Parkway workshop. I've included two images of males along with the female. The singing pose shows a typical southern Appalachians male showing some black on the dorsal aspect. The other male shows a dorsal aspect devoid of black which is more typical of birds from the northern part of the range. The southern males also tend to have a more prominent white handkerchief. This eastern warbler shows the largest difference between female and male plumage but all birds except for the most immature females also show a white handkerchief. First fall males if found early enough in that season will sometimes show a white supercillium and a white lower eye arc similar to that found in the female. I find that incredibly interesting.
The “line_up“ is a paperwork series I developed since 2010. The “liners” are made out of paper (Din A3/A4),
oil paint and graphite. The theme is the hermetical laws of polarity and movement. There is no ending and no beginning in any direction, just an endless movement. You have the possibility to arrange the papers like you want and that makes it an endless playground for my photo-work and the eyes of the viewers.

Crazy Tuesday theme Knolling
I'm not sure if I've got it right but hopefully this falls into the catergory of knolling - the stems are, afterall, in parallel to each other. Arranging the dry flowers and deceased insects and trying not to get shadows in the image has certainly driven me crazy! At least I can bin all the old flowers now. Happy Crazy Tuesday 😄
The mountain harebell (blue), sulphur flower (yellow) and Fendler's Ceanothus (white) were arranged in a pleasing way on Flagstaff Mountain, near Boulder.
Thanks to Bill Bowman for identifying Fendler's Ceanothus.

Along a central corridor, is a group of buildings thought to be a "House for Women" or “Virgins of the Sun.”
Women, who lived here were chosen as children to worked for the Royal Family and keep the temple clean. They were typically daughters of important members of the community and considered very beautiful.
***
Acllahuasi, term kichwa (Aclla = Escogida, Huasi = house 'House of the Chosen'), women dedicated directly to the service of the temple and their occupants, in charge of spinning, embroidering and making textiles, in addition to preparing food for the Inca and priests .
Architecturally it is about six rooms built with stones of good Inca stonework, arranged around several internal courtyards. Most of them are in foundations, unlike the main room located at the east end of the complex, which preserves the walls and access door in its entirety, inside it can be seen nineteen trapezoidal niches that decorate it.
Visit Glanmire - and get lost in the lush environment - so beautifully arranged and composed - a perfect mix between nature and village.. Wander and find all those lovely spots ..
Nature has arranged it so well that there are in these regions both the sea and beautiful mountains with incredible healing properties. So you will travel for a week between the sea and the mountains and as if you were in the office of the best cosmetologists. During the whole excursion you can see many interesting places and caves in those places
I found this little violett mushroom (Purple lacquer funnel) and trumpet braiding yesterday in the woods, so cuted out the little ghost to arrange this Halloween still life for MM.

Yueh Hai Ching Temple is a Chinese temple in Singapore.
The current structure of this shrine dates back to 1850 and was substantially renovated in 1895. Since then, it has undergone several restorations.
The temple exemplifies a Taoist temple in traditional Chinese architecture.
The roofs of the temple feature highly unusual ornaments, consisting of intricate arrangements of one- and two-story mini-structures and human figurines. These elements are arranged to depict clusters of buildings within a Chinese town.
In this temple, not only is the ridge densely adorned with dragons and miniature models of dwellings, but the copings, gable ends, and hips are also embellished with various structures, including pagodas, sheds, dwellings, and niches. Human figurines are displayed throughout, depicting scenes from Chinese operas that illustrate the courageous and meritorious deeds of gods and ancient heroes from Chinese legend.
When I travelled to Cornwall in 2017 I arranged the trip all to capture one image. I hoped to capture many more images when I was there but the whole point of the trip was that I had a picture in mind and wanted to have a go at capturing it. This posting is the closest I got to capturing that image but alas as is so often the case it is just not what was in my mind’s eye.
The angle of the shot is right taken low facing southwest towards the mount, the line of the causeway is pretty much everything I wanted leading nicely to the main subject and the water was just about at the right depth. However, I got three very important features of my shot wrong.
1. I didn’t go at the right time of year for the angle of the sun to be correct. I thought I would be able to put the sun in frame with the mount and get better colour in the sky but at that time of year the sunset is way around to north.
2. I didn’t plan for the time of the tides and the water rises pretty damned fast when the tides starts to come in.
Finally the 3rd problem was that I was there on a bank holiday weekend with record high temperatures. It was lovely and warm, which I wasn’t complaining about, and unfortunately the number of tourists taking advantage was incredible. I swear at least a thousand people streamed past me whilst I was trying to get this shot.
When you visit the mount there are warnings about the time of the next tide. I had assumed, foolishly it appears, that by the time the tide was coming in all the visitors would be back on dry land and I could take my shot undisturbed, but no. It turns out that it is a tradition during the summer months that visitors to the mount will wait for the tide to cover the causeway and then wade back to shore. So my shot here is a long exposure trying desperately to force the camera to ignore anything that moves and make all the tourists disappear. It didn’t work perfectly but given how many people there were it did a pretty good job.
I may not have obtained the image I wanted but it has given me a taste of what could be and not that I need it but it gives me an excuse to visit Cornwall again
