Exercise Semangat Bersatu brings the Singapore Armed Forces and Malaysian Armed Forces together as one fighting force. Held from 12 to 23 Aug 2005, the exercise had Charlie Company of the 3rd Batallion, Singapore Infantry Regiment joining the 10th Malaysian Regiment for cross-training and field training.

Swedish Forces meet the IED threat - Homemade bombs, known as IEDs (Improvised Explosive Device), is an ever-present threat in Afghanistan. Their use has increased in recent years in the areas where Swedish forces operate, and our units have been exposed to more such attacks. A few of these have led to human deaths and injuries. A Squadron The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards

 

Introducing the Jackal to it's new role. A Squadron The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards have been out for the first time in their Jackal vehicles on Hohne Training Area. As part of the move to A2020 the SCOTS DG are now Light Cavalry giving them the manouevrabliity on the battlefield as part of the Adaptable Force. The low level exercise was designed to introduce the soldiers to the skills required when operating on the Jackal and to rehearse the drills required for contingency operations. The exercise will form the basis of the Regimental Standard Operating Procedures.

Dog handlers keep Helmand bases safe

 

Two Army dog handlers are working together to provide security for British forces in Helmand Province by searching vehicles entering ISAF (International Security Assistance Force) bases for weapons and explosives.

 

Lance Corporal Sophie Mitchell (27) and Private Kathleen Griffiths (21) are working with search dogs, Flake and Trough, and protection dog, Vinco, at Main Operating Base Price to provide vital protection to the UK, ISAF and Afghan troops who operate in the Nahr-e Saraj area of Helmand province.

Exercise SOUTHBOUND TROOPER XII (Ex SBT XII) is a Joint, Interagency, Multinational and Public (JIMP) exercise based on Task Force (TF) 36, which is to be force generated from the 36 Canadian Brigade Group (36 CBG) Territorial Battalion Group (TBG). Approximately 700 soldiers, sailors, airmen and airwomen from units across Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, Ontario and Alberta are participating in the training. Ex SBT XII provides a unique training opportunity for the participants to train side by side in a multi-national task force environment. Units from the U.S. Army, Navy, Army National Guard, Air Force and Marines will participate in the training providing the Canadians the opportunity to operate and train with their U.S. counterparts in an effort to develop their interoperability skills and build strong ties.

The exercise takes place in FORT PICKETT, VIRGINIA, from 18-26 February 2012.

Long before it was called Camp Humphreys or later, U.S. Army Garrison Humphreys, K-6 airfield south of Seoul, Korea was home to U.S. Marine Air Group 12 during the Korean War. These photos are courtesy of J.R. Boyer and Thomas C. Courson, Marines who served at K-6 during the war. They give an insight in life at K-6 and in the surrounding community during that era.

MANASSAS, Va. (Aug. 21, 2017) -- At a small airfield near the nation's capital an innovative group of engineers is designing and building futuristic aircraft that are catching the attention of Army researchers.

 

Aurora Flight Sciences, hosted a visit from U.S. Army Research Laboratory aerospace engineers Aug. 15. Earlier this summer, officials from the company visited the Army's research facilities at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. Aurora is focused on the development and manufacturing of advanced unmanned systems and aerospace vehicles.

The Estonian Army provide force protection to the Royal Engineers whilst they repair a culvert just outside of Check Point (CP) Brekna. This will aid the flow of water and traffic into, and around the area for the local population.

 

The Estonian Company 12 (Est Coy 12) have been working in partnership with the British Forces since the conflict in Afghanistan began. Although only a company size of men and women are in theatre at anyone time, their work is invaluable.

 

The Estonian Army, mainly based from Patrol Base (PB) Wahid, cover the majority of Nad-e-Ali (South) and man several check points (CP) across the area too.

 

They provide force protection for British troops on the ground, and assist with engineering tasks in the area.

Exercise Wallaby 08 enabled the Army and the RSAF to validate our air-land integration operations. It also marked the first appearance by the Leopard 2A4 MBT in an overseas exercise.

The U.S. solders were teaching their Afghan National Army partners how fire various weapons, and how to properly move to an objective as a unit.

TS11 demonstrates the United States and Australian commitment to their military alliance, and enhances stability and security throughout the Asia-Pacific region. The 31st MEU is the only continually forward-deployed MEU, and remains the nation's force-in-readiness in the Asia-Pacific region.

Urban training in action at Copehill Down

 

As operations in Afghanistan draw down, soldiers are relearning their urban warfare skills in a new course launched this week at Copehill Down.
