I've been cycling around the Trossachs in search of some nice autumnal colours lately, and I spotted this view of Loch Ard, with Ben Lomond (before the snow hit) behind. I went back in the evening and the weather was pretty moody. The lochs were pretty rough as the wind and rain blew through but the light, just as as it was setting was beautiful.

The snow-covered slopes of Ben Lomond, Scotlands most southerly peak over 3000', are reflected in the still waters of Loch Ard.

The morning was so promising, with a dense fog covering the Central Belt of Scotland, which would (according to the weather forecast) gradually clear as it was burned off by the sun. Great, I thought, a bit of mist on the loch. Oh yeah .. clear as the proverbial bell when I arrived. If I've learned nothing else over the past couple of years, it's that the hills make their own weather and the "official" forecast bears little relation to reality. Ah well .. better luck next time.

The view from the A Mhoine peninsula, over the 'almost an Insland' Ard Neakie, across Loch Eriboll to the fabled mountains Cranstackie and Beinn Spionnaidh.

Black and white really suited the mood of the day, windy with plenty of flying cloud.

This remote part of the far north west of Scotland is almost empty of people, and it rains a lot - but it is absolutely wonderful!

Loch Ard Gorge is framed by a limestone cave.

The low cloud and mist slowly drifting in a thin layer above the water added to the moody feel at the loch

Its got to be Large

We spent three and a half days at port campbell taking in the coastline from the bay of islands to the twelve apostles

There is only about 20klms of coastline here along the limestone cliffs that you can access along the great ocean road

We were dodging showers and cold fronts

It really quite an amazing coastline

I don`t think any photos can can show off this coastline as the eye can take it in

The cliffs are highest at the twelve apostles

There is a lot here to shoot and in differing light

This was taken quite early on our last morning

This is a 5 shot stitch

Its definitely got to be large to take it all in

took a trip to kinlochard in the trossachs this morning

when i arrived it was still dark and raining heavily i was about to give up and head for home when i could see the sun breaking through the heavy clouds

i grabbed my camera and ran to the edge of loch ard just in time to catch the sun light up the clouds

A few weeks ago we had a run of great sunsets. This is one of my favourite trees locally on Loch Ard. The flowers were blooming on the beach and the ducklings were sleeping behind me. Such a lovely evening.

I liked this view, taken a few months ago.... highlighted in the box is the 'Eagle Pole"... part of the Loch Ard Sculpture trail, a family friendly trail with various sculptures environmentally positioned in the forest on the south side of the Loch...

Check out the making of the pole and information and a map of the trail here...

The light in the little bay on Loch Ard was pretty sharp and colour harsh, but it made for a decent mono with this shot... the shaft of light along the bay lit up the boathouse nicely...
