It was trying to sleep or resting from the cold weather, so it folded its wings and minimized its movements which gave me a chance to capture a good shot.

Paysandisia archon.Spain.Paysandisia archon is a moth of the family Castniidae. It is native to Uruguay and central Argentina and has been accidentally introduced to Europe, where it is spreading rapidly. It is considered the only member of the genus Paysandisia.
This is a very large moth with a wingspan of 90–110 mm. The forewings are dark green with brown streaking, the hindwings are bright red with bold black and white markings. The females, generally larger than the males, are easily recognized by the prominent ovipositor. Like other castniids, this species flies by day and has clubbed antennae and is easily mistaken for a butterfly. The adults fly from June to September.
The larva is whitish and maggot-like and feeds in the stems and trunks of palms (see list below for recorded food plants). In its natural range, the damage done by the larvae is unobtrusive and the species is not considered a pest but the species is causing increasing concern in Europe because of the sometimes fatal damage being caused to native and exotic palms. The species pupates in a cocoon incorporating palm fibres within the larval gallery.

Bonus gift for Kingmarshy
Making up on an old promise I made
It's his self-moc Archon (aka Kingmarshy)
Kingmarshy // Archon
Trained under the great maker himself, Artakha, Archon was banished after his ambitions grew too great. He now resides on a long abandoned island in the south-western archipelago, waiting for a chance at redemption...
With the obligatory backstory out of the way, I'd like to introduce you to the new version of Kingmarshy. Archon is the "in-universe" name I've given him, and you may be seeing more of that soon.
It seems fitting that today should be the day that I share the updated and improved version of my self-moc, seeing as it's my birthday! Happy birthday to me :D
Magnus, sitting pretty (because he knows he is)!

Today I spotted a very rare moth on the licence plate of our car.
After some research on the internet I found the following:
It is native to Uruguay and central Argentina and has been accidentally introduced to Europe, where it is spreading rapidly.
This butterfly normally lives in palmtrees, not a common tree in our region. One has been reported earlier (in 2006) from the Netherlands and there has been one record in 2002 from England, in West Sussex.
