Amsterdam Light Festival - “The ice is melting at the pøules!”, warned Danish Foreign Minister Villy Søvndal at the UN Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen in 2009. His funny Danish pronunciation of the word ‘poles’ received more attention than the content of his message, minimising the urgency of the problem.
The Ice is Melting at the Pøules. Using two custom designed laser light machines, he creates a series of moving vertical lines based on British scientist Ed Hawkins’ beautiful ‘warming stripes’. These lines represent the global temperature rise over the past 169 years; blue is a relatively cool year, red a warm one. The stripes are alternated by a series of interlocked circles, depicting the rise of both temperature and CO2 levels worldwide. The changing height of the projection of both circles and stripes is, of course, also far from random: it corresponds to data on sea level rise.
AMSTERDAM - Circus director and entrepreneur Oscar Carré opened his majestic theatre on the banks of the Amstel in 1887. Before that he had a travelling circus which was famous for its acts involving horses. Oscar Carré was familiar with the glitter and glamour, and the applause, but was no stranger either to the business side of theatre life. After many triumphs throughout Europe, he settled in Amsterdam. The Carré family lived in the company house which now houses the grand Loge Foyer.

AMSTERDAM ZUID - A modern Design Hotel in an iconic building with beautiful Art.
Nhow Amsterdam RAI, designed by the well-known architect Reinier de Graaf. Each room (650) reflects the six wind directions of the building in which the hotel is located: north, northwest, east, south, southwest and southeast.
Avenue de Luchon, Montréjeau, Haute-Garonne, France
This is a busy street with ongoing traffic to the nearby Centre Commercial in Gourdan-Polignan and also to places like Bagnères-de-Luchon and Saint-Bertrand-de-Comminges, and Viella in Spain.
The road is rather narrow and the sidewalks are either only 50 cm wide or absent at all. A risky place for any pedestrian I must say....
Anyway, eventually all shops in this part of the street (between Place de l'Orme and the Garonne river) have closed many years ago and the buildings where abandoned or have even collapsed.
After many times of driving through this street, on the way to Lac d'Oô or on the way back from Nistos Cap-Nestès, I finally took the time to make some pictures.
After postprocessing they pretty much looked like how I wanted them to be, like on a grey day in this street.

oude kapel
At the beginning of the 20th century, Georges Turpault, a spinner from Cholet, bought an old house and the adjoining land on the tip of Beg-er-Lann, located on the south-western coast of the Quiberon peninsula. He entrusted the contractor Hippolyte Jamet with the construction of an Anglo-Medieval style castle which he named "the castle of the sea". Its construction took place from 1904 to 1910.
During the Second World War, the castle was occupied by the German army, which built two blockhouses and seriously damaged it. In 1946, at the end of the war, Mrs Turpault sold the castle to the mayor of Quiberon, Marcel Robert. The latter partially restored it before selling it to Ferdinand Richard in 1967.

Plönlein, undoubtedly one of the most photogenic spots in Rothenburg ob der Tauber, with its cobbled streets, colourful half-timbered houses, magnificent fortress towers (on the left the Siebersturm and on the right the Kobolzellerturm) and historical buildings in the background, It feels like you've walked into a fairytale here. Plönlein refers to the ochre-coloured half-timbered house with the fountain.

Lengte pyloon: 82 m.
This photo was taken in Nieuw Vennep.

The bridge is 143 m long. Pylon length: 82 m.
This makes it the largest Calatrava bridge in Haarlemmermeer.
Not only the top of the bridge but also the bottom of the bridge is a beautiful structural design by the architect.
