With a wee can o' diet Irn Bru for scale...

Also referred to as the Hermit's Castle, but I rather like the implication that it's some ancient ruin, rather than a fabulous fifties architecture-student project.

I love the way it just grows out of the landscape, both metaphorically and literally - the aggregate mixed into the concrete clearly comes from the immediate area. Dragging all that cement there must've been hard work...

As you see, I rather enjoyed photographing this place...

has something to do with trains?

Architecture students work all semester to show their final design projects which are critiqued by faculty, students, and outside professionals.

This is a final review from Core III, which is the 3rd out of 5 core studios you will take as an architecture student. You can either work towards a Bachelors of Science in Architecture or a dual degree Bachelors of Science in Architecture/Masters of Architecture. I was in the latter program and I finished in 5 years (of course I took classes during every winter intersession and every summer since my sophomore year.)

Studio Curriculum for the Masters program is as follows...

5 Core Studios: Core I, II, III, VI, V

3 Advanced Studios: They let you choose which professor's project you want to participate in.

1 Comprehensive Studio: ARCH 513

1 Graduate Level Studio: ARCH 515

Thesis: Your own project in which you do all the research, site analysis, programming, etc. yourself.

- Try to raise the quality of social life in neighborhoods (increasing the quality of space with the approach of increasing social security)

- Appropriate distribution of welfare, educational, occupational, health services in neighborhood (social justice)

- Special attention to women and children and their activation in the project planning process to enhance neighborhood security for these groups.

- Long-term and short-term social and cultural planning by planners and designers to enhance neighborhood security.

- To create suitable cultural relations among different people in a neighborhood, especially young people and adolescents with middle ages, in order to increase empathy and reduce the distance between generations.

Ehh before I jump into school I went crazy and took lots and lots of photos. Being that I do live extremely close to this amazing building, its generally my first stop.
