"You pronounce my name CN, like CNN without the last N," she laughed when I wondered how Shi Yin is pronounced.
I met her at Suvilahti, in Helsinki, there the Wastelands workshops are being held.
Shi Yin is one among 450 architecture students who arrived for a fortnight to stay in the capital of Finland and participate in different workshops. vimeo.com/30794070
"In the summer of 2012 up to 500 young, emerging architects and artists from over 50 countries around Europe and beyond will gather up in the World Design Capital of the year, in the city of Helsinki, to take part in a 2-week festival of workshops, lectures, social interaction and monumental experiences. The concept of this annual, pioneering summer-assembly was established in Liverpool in 1981 by local students, determined of organizing and event which would later on revolutionize the international scene of young European architects."

Shi Yin was born in China but at the age of three and a half her parents moved to Austria and made their home there. I asked for the reason they chose Austria but Shi Yin couldn't really tell.
She speaks German and French in addition to English, the language in which we communicated. I wondered about her knowledge of Chinese and she said she kept it fluent but not as much as she'd want to.
When I asked her to take a picture of her she was surprised: " Why? I am not special." And I replied that she was indeed and that I love to reach out to people and learn something about their stories.
After all, we are all connected in this world.

El Nuevo centro metropolitano actualmente en proceso de gestación, se ubica en el área de los parques al inicio del Paseo de la República, y será un espacio urbano de transferencia de personas y servicios producidos en la concentración de opciones de comunicación entre los habitantes de la urbe conectados por el flujo incesante del transporte masivo, su intercambio de rutas y servicios según sus destinos y actividades personales en el cruce de las nuevas Líneas de los Metros 2-3 y el Metropolitano.
Esta zona urbana convertida en nodo central del área metropolitana será el sitio donde diariamente cruzarán miles de personas y se convertirá también en el núcleo significativo de una Nueva Cultura Metropolitana, producto de los intercambios inevitables entres sus habitantes y las modificaciones acaecidas en el espacio urbano, con sus nuevas visiones del entorno transformado por la concentración del transporte masivo, la reformulación del tiempo, la redefinición del uso de la calle y la construcción de un nuevo mundo subterráneo de las estaciones como hitos urbanos invisibles.
El espacio urbano convocante del futuro será de gran escala y de muchas opciones dado la condición popular masiva de uso interno por una numerosa población y la dimensión de los nuevos usos culturales, estará servido por accesos múltiples e inusitados a grandes espacios abiertos, los cuales estarán definidos por estructuras convocantes muy flexibles e integradas al territorio con diversos accesos de todo tipo, pues la Nueva Cultura se producirá en edificios urbanos de alta densidad donde se romperá el límite que separa el exterior del interior del edificio redefiniendo la condición urbana y prolongándola en el espacio verticalmente, recreando nuevas percepciones arquitectónicas inusitadas para el públicos asistente, que será un espectáculo en sí mismo, y donde las personas podrán descubrirse como grupo de identidades e intereses comunes, con los que provocarán la comunicación de las ideas y las experiencias humanas más importantes.

La vivienda consta de tres espacios importantes, dos destacan por las curvaturas que producen una triple y doble altura, generando sensaciones de amplitud espacial por la jerarquía de dichos espacios, siendo respectivamente la zona social y la habitación de la madre. El tercer espacio importante es el patio central, siendo el remate del proyecto. El tipo de vegetación utilizada son trepadoras rojas, el motivo por la cual se utilizó, es debido a la abundancia de ésta que permite una armonía en la vivienda actual ubicada en la ciudad de Huacho.
Posteriormente a una entrevista, se hizo una recopilación de los datos que permitió hacer una retroalimentación del tiempo vivido juntos como familia.

Designed, fabricated, and installed by a student team at Virginia Tech, the Masonic Amphitheater in Clifton Forge, Virginia, provides a public park and performance space for the rural Appalachian community. Organized by design/buildLAB, a third year architecture studio at Virginia Tech, 16 undergraduate students were asked to work with the community to plan and submit individual design proposals. Once received, a master plan was then devised as a convergence of each student’s proposition. For the interior, ALPOLIC panels in four attractive finishes were CNC-routed to clad the underside of the structure.

Fallen #modernism or its last convulsion at the time when the "wind of change" blown behind the iron curtain. One of the most famous landmarks in #wrocław, Poland.
The construction started in early 80's and ended in mid 90's. It is one of the most horrible residential buildings I've ever visited. Especially inside. The "fallout experience" live. Every #architecturestudent shall have a trip there, just to see how the fiftieth shade of #architectureporn may look like. And to feel the exceptional terror made by an #architect.
