"Ora erano molto vicini al Faro. Eccolo che si stagliava, nudo e dritto, abbagliante di bianco e nero, e si vedevano le onde rompersi in schegge bianche come vetro infranto contro gli scogli. Si vedevano le venature e le spaccature degli scogli. Si vedevano chiaramente le finestre; un tocco di bianco su una di esse, e un ciuffo di verde sullo scoglio. Un uomo era uscito e li aveva guardati con il cannocchiale ed era rientrato. Ecco com’era, pensò James, il Faro che per tutti quegli anni avevano visto attraverso la baia; era una torre nuda su una roccia deserta."

Il faro della Madonna è situato sull'omonimo promontorio. Fu edificato nel 1858 e ricostruito nel 1958. Ha una portata di 25 miglia marine.
