The Liège-Guillemins train station, designed by the Spanish architect Calatrava, was recently colourfully decorated by the French artist Daniel Buren. For this temporary art installation, 7 colours were used to cover the 10,000 square metres of the building's roof.
Casa Loma (Spanish for Hill House) is a Gothic Revival style house and gardens in midtown Toronto, Ontario, Canada, that is now a museum and landmark. It was originally a residence for financier Sir Henry Mill Pellatt. Casa Loma was constructed over a three-year period from 1911–1914. The architect of the mansion was E. J. Lennox, who was responsible for the designs of several other city landmarks. 221
At 135m, The London Eye is the world’s largest cantilevered observation wheel. It was conceived and designed by Marks Barfield Architects and was launched in 2000. It has already won over 85 awards for national and international tourism, outstanding architectural quality and engineering achievement.

That's like saying Picasso put paint on canvas...
Where once there was only sky we now have 'The Sky'. - Not just a building occupying space, but an entity becoming part of that space.
In the architect's imagination they envisioned the direct relationship between the physical sky and clouds to the reflected clouds. The soft sky to the Euclidean lines of their structure. - together through their relationship they each achieve presence.
photo: a matter of gradation. As a raging storm approached from behind I aimed toward the tranquil blue sky before me. Capturing the east and west, blues turned gray, the air cooled as the breeze angered to a wind.
In reality all credit for this photo goes to the architect. I just saw what they wanted me to see.

Sint Nicholaskerk is the most seen and at the same time overlooked church in Amsterdam as well as being one its most recent constructions, no one can miss this iconic structure upon arrival to the city walking from Centraal Station your eye is immediately drawn to it at 58 m in height it towers over the city skyline.
This Roman Catholic Church was designed by Architect Adrianus Bleijs and is a nod to the past combining elements of neo-Baroque and neo-Renaissance styles, completed in 1887 it was made a minor Basilica in 2012.
The church is dedicated to the 4th century charitable patron saint of children that became our Santa Claus as well as the patron saint of sailors and prostitutes, another winning combination.
In the Netherlands Santa Claus is known as Sinterklaas and a feast has been celebrated for over 700 years in his name and adopted in the early part of 20th century the tradition of leaving small gifts in children’s shoes was practiced on Dec 6th which has evolved now to become a Dec 5th evening tradition of gathering of family and friends to exchange gifts and laughter.
While Dutch Sinterklaas celebrations are mainly for the children its adult component is an annual grievance poem written to the recipient that must rhyme and be read out loud by the subject at the evening party all in good fun but beware you may get as good as you give.

The Austonian held the crown of tallest building in Austin for nine years until The Independent surpassed it by only seven feet in 2019. Located at 200 Congress Ave., the 683-foot tall, 56-story building is a modern architectural icon in this rapidly growing city.
This post modern skyscraper was designed by Ziegler Cooper Architects of Houston. At the time of its completion in 2010, the Austrian was both the tallest building in Austin, and the tallest residential skyscraper in the United States west of the Mississippi River. Both distinctions are now held by The Independent, although another downtown Austin tower, Sixth and Guadalupe and still under construction, has already topped out at its final height of 865-feet and is scheduled to be completed in the second half of 2023.
Austin is the capital of the State of Texas, as well as the seat of Travis County. With a population of just under one million residents, Austin is the 11th largest city in the United States. The Austin-Round Rock-San Marcos Metropolitan Area, now with a population of 2.3M, is one of the fastest growing large metropolitan areas in the country having added more than 579,000 residents since 2010.

The buildings were both started in 1885 with the Jail opening in 1886 and the Court House in 1887. Originally, the Council had decided to open the buildings on the date of Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee which was June 22, 1887. It was suggested to allow $500.00 to pay for the festivities. However, the money was returned to a general fund as it was never spent because the buildings were opened instead on May 9, at the beginning of the spring assizes
George F. Durand was born in 1850 to Scottish parents. His artistic ability encouraged his father to enroll him in Peel’s Art School, London, where after two years of study, specializing in marble sculpturing, Durand began his studies in architecture in apprenticeship with London architect, William Robinson. After completing his apprenticeship, Durand moved to the United States, where he helped with the designs of the New York State Capital Building for a short time.

Architects house... - Have you ever stumbled upon an abandoned house that seems frozen in time? This forgotten place with decay is sure to pique your curiosity. Despite all odds, this place has turned into a beautiful artwork - one that speaks of someone's cherished memories

Commande de la Commune d'Andrézieux-Bouthéon
Au début des années 1970, Total commande à l'architecte et ingénieur Jean Prouvé une centaine de stations-service modulaires. Certaines sont encore en fonctionnement en France et en région parisienne (dont trois en Essonne), d'autres ont même été inscrites aux monuments historiques, et quelques-unes ont été vendues aux enchères. Car ces stations « Prouvé » sont devenues collector.
A view of the entrance to the Louvre via the Louvre Pyramid designed by the Chinese-American architect I. M. Pei. Where I was standing to take the photo was as near as possible to get to the building. I liked the two black cubes either side of the photo but I can't remember what they were for? Bins perhaps? You can also see to the right the red metal things. They had what appeared to be powerful lights on the top. Again, not sure what that was all about, perhaps floodlighting? I appreciated the touch of red. :-)
A 691 acre state park originally called Westbrook, was designed by noted landscape architect Frederick Law Olmstead while the mansion in the Tudor style was created by Charles C. Haight all for William Bayard Cutting, an attorney, financier, real estate developer and sugar beet refiner, in 1886.
This part of the house faces the Connetquat River which empties into Nicoll Bay and finally the Great South Bay of Long Island.
