Park Avenue and Courthouse Towers, Arches National Park, Utah

Caught the 'supernova' there right at the horizon ;)

The Gateway Arch, St. Louis Missouri

The arch is very large, with a 92-foot span. It is far from the largest Arch within Arches National Park. But the awe-inspiring immensity of Tower Arch comes as much from its impressive size as it does from its depth, and solid presence.

Sunrise at Mesa Arch, every photographer dream... We all have in mind this amazing picture of the sun rising over the La Sal mountains, hitting the bottom of the arch, creating an amazing scenery.

I was determined to get one of those, but you know what? Nature flipped me off. Lots of clouds and no sun. Kind of a bummer when you've traveled thousand of miles and when you know this is probably the only attempt you'll have in you life to take this shot.

Anyway, the landscape was amazing so I enjoyed my breakfast here and tried to make the most of the weather situation ! This picture might not be as impressive as the "usual" views of Mesa Arch but I liked the glow and the clouds/sunbeams were very interesting.

Even without the sun, it was an amazing moment.

Let me know what you think of this picture ! I will be glad to read your comments ! Feel free to browse though my gallery as well !

This arch is a free standing sandstone structure in Poison Springs Canyon. It can be a bit tricky to find the spot where one can drop down to the shelf on which the arch is located. It was a fun challenge for us.

Wilson Arch is south of Moab on US highway 191, or more specifically, one half mile south of the intersection of 191 and 46, the La Sal Loop Road. This is, indeed, one of those places that "You Can't Miss It!" -- it is conspicuous to all driving south on 191.

For scale, I left two people in the photo. You might need to

zoom in to find them and to appreciate the size of Wilson Arch.

Wilson Arch has a span of 91 feet and a height of 46 feet. It is named after Joe Wilson, a local pioneer that had a cabin in nearby Dry Valley.

During this capture one of the other two photographers that were at Mesa Arch turned on a red light there while working at his camera ... it showed up during my exposure here of the night sky, adding some hellish color I think ;)

English:

The Delicate Arch Viewpoint Trail leads to a spectacular viewpoint. Through a unique desert landscape it goes directly to the viewpoint via a gently rising path. The magnificent view of the mighty sandstone arch, which is perched on a rock opposite, is impressive.

Deutsch:

Delicate Arch is a 52-foot tall arch in Arches National Park, Moab, Utah. Per the nps.gov website, the light opening beneath the arch is 46 feet high and 32 feet wide, making it the largest free-standing arch in the park. It has had more than a few names in its history, from the colorful ("Cowboy's Chaps", "Old Maid's Bloomers") to the prosaic ("Salt Wash Arch"). The term "Delicate" first appeared in a January 1934 article about the Arches National Monument Scientific Expedition, which described it as "the most delicately chiseled arch in the entire area."

Enough technical details. In my opinion, the main thing worth mentioning is that the arch was an awesome sight, much more impressive in person than in a photograph! Hiking back in the dark, I managed to wander off trail for about 25-30 minutes before finding my way back again. That was a bit frustrating, but makes for an interesting memory. By the way, this iconic arch is the one featured on Utah's vehicle license plates.

This has not been edited or manipulated in any way or form. This was a potential front that eroded when it met a high pressure (dry) system. You can even see these nice clouds trying to avoid it by arching. Thought the shape was so cool.

Mesa Arch, Canyonlands.

Like Delicate Arch this is an icon of the US southwest, and like Delicate Arch it gets very busy.

I've been at Mesa Arch previously for sunrise and the sunstar on the arch, but I didn't fancy going into battle again to get a primetime spot. So, I settled for about an hour after sunrise - no sunstar but no big crowd either, a nice glow and plenty of opportunity to set up in a number of different spots.
