Originally a private theatre situated inside a courtyard in the town centre, the renovation project involved an area of 380m2. It meant the creation of new volumes in reinforced concrete within the pre-existing triple-height space and an internal garden in a glass tower that becomes the fulcrum of the living area.
Designed by the famed architect Joseph Esherick and recently featured in Monocle Magazine and Curbed, it was built as a demonstration house in 1968. This cozy three-level home sits on the eastern edge of Sea Ranch with no adjacent neighbors in sight. Here among the protected woodlands and the Timber Ridge Trail, you'll be one mile (across California Highway 1) from Black Point Beach; one mile from the heated pool, saunas, and tennis/pickleball court at the Moonraker Recreation Center; and nine miles south of downtown Gualala.
