The antechamber, like several other rooms in the house, is covered in gold leather. The use of Malines leather as wall covering goes back to Moorish traditions. The pieces of leather are printed with motifs in relief, like book bindings. The gold leather also served as a good insulation.

The main hall of the Overland Mill is now occupied by Hercules Industries, a local manufacturer of energy-efficient HVAC ducting and equipment. The roof in here is not original; the 1890 roof was blown away in an explosion during the mill's use as a munitions factory in WWII.
