Hello everyone!! Hope you all are fine in this crucial situation..
Yesterday was 'Pahela Baishakh'. (Bengali: পহেলা বৈশাখ, romanized: Pohela Boishakh) or Bangla Noboborsho (Bengali: বাংলা নববর্ষ) is the first day of Bengali Calendar. It is celebrated on 14 April as a national holiday in Bangladesh by people of Bengali heritage. But this year for the pandemic situation all the programs had been cancelled.
Basically red and white have always been the most popular 'Boishakhi' combination. So here's my kind of celebration on the 2nd day of Boishakh😄 .....
Everyday the flowers bloom four to five, but today they are ten together and I got a chance to share with you people ☺️. Hope you like it!

The 'Arabian' jasmine.
In my care it is a temperamental plant, for reasons I can never deduce. It is apt to go yellow and drop almost all its leaves, and stay dormant for months on end, then suddenly recover again.
The potting mix has been fertilised both with 'Dynamic Lifter' poo-pellets and Osmocote slow release granules. I know it is well fed because weeds that volunteer in its pot grow lushly.

This for “it’s summer!” fragrance on our dining room table, plucked from a known planting near the loading dock of Ker’s workplace. It is one of those loves for which I never look for perfection and in fact, like the browning just as much, for there is so much to appreciate in its profusion. We’ve always called this “the double pikake” but in truth it seems a quadrupling in comparison to its single cousin.

Jasminum sambac 'Grand Duke Supreme' (Arabian Jasmine) shows a fully double white bloom with tightly layered petals forming a rose-like flower. Learn more at Top Tropicals: toptropicals.com/catalog/uid/jasminum_grandduke_supreme.htm
Jasminum sambac is a group of fragrant perennial shrubs with origins in Southeast Asia. This is the much storied jasmine that is used to make jasmine tea and the essential oil is used to scent perfumes. This evergreen everblooming shrub requires a tropical culture with rich soil and does best in USDA zones 9 - 11. The plants are compact and grow slowly to a height of 4 - 6 ft. (1.2 - 1.8 m). The cream colored rose-like flowers are almost 2" (5 cm) in diameter and are deeply fragrant.
Seen above at a local nursery where a two gallon specimen retails for $29.00 USD.
I grew a variety of Jasminum sambac in my Venice garden a few years ago. I cultivated several plants in pots as well as in the garden. I was disappointed by the very slow growth and the tendency toward iron deficiency (chlorosis). Arabian Jasmine benefits from very rich soil, warm and humid conditions, full sun in coastal locations and protection from harsh sun inland. Propagate from stem cuttings in the spring.
The common name Arabian Jasmine is deceiving in that this genus originates in the tropical humid regions of Southeast Asia and not the dry conditions of the Middle East. Jasminum sambac is a member of the Oleaceae plant family along with olive, lilac, forsythia, privet and ash.

The plant on the left is my one of my favorites - our Arabian Jasmine! We brought it home when it was in full bloom, and oh did it smell good! The little plant next to it is called a Brazilian firework, because it has these little clumps of flowers that look like they are shooting out like fireworks.
On a jag attempting to photograph all the fragrant white flowers in our garden. Native to southern Asia, India, Philippines, Myanmar and Sri Lanka according to Wikipeida. This Jasmine is rather slow growing but the fragrance is pure heaven. A sweet Jasmine scent with strong notes of citrus blossom. This is the species used to make Jasmine tea. Just now beginning to flower in several locations in our garden. Flowers turn a shade of purple as they mature. Tendency toward iron deficiency best treated in the spring with mineral supplements. Propagate from stem cuttings in the spring.
I brought this down from Cairns with me when I moved. You do see them occasionally for sale in the far north, but I have yet to see a single one down here in the Brisbane area. I wondered if it it was not hot enough for them to grow properly or flower in the southeast corner of Queensland, but the two I have, now planted out, are doing fine.
The double flowers of Grand Duke of Tuscany look more like a small white rose than a typical jasmine flower. They are strongly perfumed.
