Originalment construït com Hotel Colom el 1902 i ampliat el 1916. Durant la Guerra Civil va ser la seu del PSUC. El 1942 va adquirir l'actual fesomia. L'edifici és obra de l'arquitecte Eusebi Bona i Puig, les dues escultures de la façana són obra de Frederic Marès.

L'edifici va ser la seu del BANESTO. Actualment allotja l'Apple Store (xamfrà Pça. Catalunya amb Passeig de Gràcia) i l'Hotel Iberostar Selection Paseo de Gracia (Pça Catalunya).

if u r a woman and happen to be wearing a skirt and r going to the apple store on 5th ave, be aware that anyone looking up the stairs can see ur underwear or ur nether regions if u aren't wearing any. Why would anyone even position themselves underneath the stairs Tricia? Well they just so happen to put a huge sitting area right UNDERNEATH the stairs!!! I talked to a woman who works here and she confirmed that when female Apple employees wear skirts they def take the elevator on those days. Damn Apples...their macbooks r defective and their architects didn't think bout innocent pervs like me :)

Since my stay at SF was only a transit, I could not walk around the downtown except the Powell St. station.

Inside this Apple Store looks very similar to that of Sakae, Nagoya, Japan, but ASSF also has a small hall.

The logo looks Photoshopped, but it isn't. The finishing touches are being put to the Apple Store at 147 Buchanan Street, which will open at 9am on Saturday August 25th.

(I like the way the passers-by, just by chance, distributed themselves evenly across the frame too!)
