... a rest for eyes. ;-)

So this morning as I lay in bed looking at photographs, I started playing around with this kaleidoscope app on my phone. These three photographs are the results. I love the one of the lamp which looks like some kind of an alien. The one of our ceiling. A tile ceiling becomes far more attractive as a kaleidoscope and the plant on the bookcase above my head.

This is another composite similar to my last shot created using Sony's Smooth Reflection App.

I was powerless to stop this stunning Osteospermum or "Cape Daisy" plant jumping into my trolley at the garden centre recently. Who could resist such colours? A perennial so it will spread & come back year after year HSS!

67/100x my 100 photos will all be taken using the Hipstamatic App.

taken with iPhone 4s and filter Hipstamatic app.

Apps: Snapseed, Photoshop, Pixelmator, Photos (iPad Pro)

So many apps used although I was trying for a photo with minimal post-processing. I used Snapseed to add vignetting and some selective edits. Photoshop to reduce noise. Pixelmator to combine 2 versions. Photos to adjust lighting and crop.

I’ve not been back to the mountains this year, but am eager to pull on my hiking boots and be above the clouds once again.

Water app

I recently turned to a “random decision maker” app to help get me motivated again. The info that I entered for consideration consisted of location, camera and lens, b&w or color and aspect ratio. My spin for today told me to go to Waterloo, Wisconsin and use my Leica D-Lux 4 set to b&w in 16:9 ratio. That isn’t a combination I’d think of using but it was fun trying something different.

Shot with my iPhone 7plus and finalized processing with BrushStroke app.

All elements shot with an iPhone6 using SlowshutterCam app.

Edited on iPad with Snapseed, Phototoaster and Mextures apps.

"""This Santa is preforming his task by educating the young reindeer how they should run on gras, when there is not snow at all! It happens more and more these days, that they have to travel through areas under different weather conditions.

As you can see, they are good listeners and also eager to start their actually training on the gras. Santa's sleigh with the big bag is already on standby."""

These origami models are all designed by Jo Nakashima, except for the bag, which is a traditional origami Waterbomb. And he has made a video-tutorial for all the models:

- "Origami Santa claus"

+ a simple change , that allows Santa to stand easily

- "Origami Santa Claus Bag"

- "Origami reindeer"

- "Origami Santa's sleigh"

I folded:

- Santa Claus from a paper 17,5x17,5cm kamipaper

- the reindeer from 17,5x17,5cm brown glassine -paper

- Santa's bag from 17,5x17,5cm red glassine-paper

- Santa's sleigh from 20x20cm double-colored kraftpaper

History - Wikipedia 02Feb2019

Eastern Point Light is a historic lighthouse on Cape Ann, in northeastern Massachusetts. It is known as the oldest seaport in America. The harbor has supported fishermen, whalers, and traders since 1616.

The lighthouse was originally planned in 1829 and was erected by 1832 on the east side of the Gloucester Harbor entrance. It was first lit on January 1, 1832. The tower was rebuilt in 1848 and again in 1890. The third and current conical brick tower stands 36 feet (11 m) tall. The lighthouse has an attached two-story keeper's quarters, built in 1879. The actual light is 57 feet (17 m) above Mean High Water. Its white light is visible for 20 nautical miles (37 km; 23 mi).

In 1880, the lighthouse was occupied by American landscape painter Winslow Homer. It was automated by September 1985 and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. The lighthouse is currently operated by the United States Coast Guard and is closed to the public.
