a few minutes before sunrise near Mucigliani shortly before a change in weather. I rarely saw such an almost apocalyptic sky (September 24, 2014, 6:53 am).

wenige Minuten vor Sonnenaufgang nahe Mucigliani kurz vor einer Wetteränderung. Selten sah ich einen solchen fast apokalyptischen Himmel (24.09.2014, 6:53 Uhr).

Venice has a special and unique relation with water: love but at the same time hate.

After a wonderful sunny summer day, the storm was approaching.. water was already rising promising anything good.

I can honestly say hand on heart that I never ever saw any sky like this in all my life...

I was on holiday with my young grandson and his cousin and only had my iphone camera on me as I devoted my time to the boys. Well I captured the moment.....

A shelf cloud is a long wedge shape cloud that forms on the leading edge of a squall line or multi-cluster storm system. They often stretch for miles across the sky and may have finger (non rotating) like clouds reaching toward the ground. Shelf clouds form as cold air within the storm rushes out lifting warm moist air ahead of the storm. As that warm air lifts it condenses and a shelf cloud forms. What you will experience as a shelf cloud moves towards you is first heavy winds and then rain and hail. The main threat with a shelf cloud is severe damaging winds.

I had the middle too taken facing the sea but on reflection decided to post what appeared the most dramatic..This is the far right hand end of the Shelf Cloud and the middle bit I shot took a stitched pan of two horizontal shots so you hopefully can imagine what the whole thing looked like....

Sorry to upload so many shots but they all are part of a series of a very apocalyptic sky at Rhossili Beach, Gower last week. Amazing skies due to the Sahara dust in the atmosphere.

Pentax PC-303 & Kono Rot Wild Film.

I’ve never shot redscale film before. It probably shows. Most of the roll is a bust but I like this.

Prise au Parc Père-Marquette, Montréal

Seen and shot over the Embankment Bridge, London [about an year ago].

Eerie light late yesterday afternoon at Ness Lake. Some super dense smoke came over at about 6pm, and for a time the whole world glowed orange. The light lasted like this for about 45 minutes then when back to the gray smokey haze that we have been accustomed too over this past couple of weeks. I have made minimal edits to this shot and have not changed the hue or applied any colour cast or filter. No end in sight for the wildfire season here in BC. Here is hoping for some rain. EXPLORED as well. Thank you !

Can you believe this was the sky after a storm...?! I used no in camera editing and no photoshop except for the watermark.

This is how weather was lately and the old buildings were great to create this apocalyptic look.

Recent Work

Just me observing an apocalyptic Silicon Valley while on the way home from work. It's like as if a volcano was erupting nearby. Never in my life living here have I ever witnessed such a weather scenario like this... Certainly, this year's wildfire season is a historic one... This was up at Groesbeck Hill Park in San Jose, CA. (Wednesday, September 9, 2020; 5:20 p.m.)

*Weather scenario: A historic outbreak of wildfires across NorCal left a massive layer of smoke draped over the SF Bay Area, turning skies Wednesday into an eerie dark orange haze & covering cars, yards & homes with layers of ash. Climate experts believe this is part of California’s ‘new normal.’ 2 million+ acres have burned so far in a series of wildfires with the Bear & Creek fires currently raging to the east of the Bay Area. Smoke from the blazes had covered Wednesday morning with a layer of darkness. While it may look like the world is coming to an end, the orange & dark skies maybe an ominous sign of what maybe in our future... The apocalyptic skies come after a record-breaking streak of Spare the Air alerts for the region, with Wednesday being a record 23rd consecutive day. People said it was like a solar eclipse, but longer, or the apocalypse, but less biblical. Some others called the darkness a metaphor for life in the days of global warming, of COVID-19, of social unrest, & of endless electioneering. Strange & foreboding it was & how long this would last was, like the sky, was unclear. For the 1st time ever, it felt like tomorrow’s sunrise no longer seemed a guarantee…

Orange, apocalyptic skies right over Silicon Valley. It was dark enough that street lights were on and people needed to use their car headlights. It's like as if a volcano was erupting nearby.
