Little Api. This was on a hike up to Peak 1 to take some photos. Api came with - bare feet and all. This photo so captures Api's curiousness and excitability. I really miss not being able to spend time with him - but he left the island the day after I did to stay with relatives near the Mali school anyway.

 

This photo was taken during a trip to Vorovoro Island in the north of Fiji with TribeWanted (www.tribewanted.com). TribeWanted is the group featured in the new BBC2 documentary, Paradise or Bust

This is an Apis mellifera ligustica ecotype Valtellina, stell the breed my grandfather used to raise.

A hollow log coated with clay makes for a comfy home for Apis Florea - a tiny species of honeybee that produces a very small quantity of medicinal that is said to have medicinal properties.
