When A&P 221 opened in Marlton, NJ in November, 1975 the store had a circular storefront sign. When A&P switched to the capsule-shaped in 1976, this sign was changed soon afterward. This was one of the larger A&P stores opened during Jonathan L. Scott's tenure as CEO, whose strategy was to close many of A&P's smaller stores and operate less but larger locations. Coming from Albertson's, Scott was the first outsider hired to run the Company. The Price and Pride advertising campaign also was from this time. After closing as Super Fresh in January, 2013 this building is still vacant, awaiting redevelopment planned for 2015.
This A&P FutureStore has been sitting abandoned since 1994, when the store closed. The windows were left uncovered for many years, and were boarded up only in the last few years as the interior has also been stripped and prepped for demolition. I was able to get this shot through a door window which was left uncovered. You can still see the stark white and black which were the trademarks of the Futurestore interior. There are better shots in my 2009 pictures, before the store windows were boarded-up:

Some classic A&P Food Market and Futurestore window decals seen on the windows of the former Waldbaums Fresh of Pleasant Plains (or some say Tottenville), Staten Island, NY. It is likely that this store was an A&P at one point, and then converted to Waldbaums in the 1990's when all Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island and Long Island A&P stores were converted. It's kinda hard to believe that they left the "A&P Food Market" decals on the windows of tis Waldbaums for 25 years!
This Waldbaums Fresh had the original Fresh Market interior and it has been left in place for the re-opening, as far as I can tell.
The store was supposed to open in late April, but has been delayed.
When acquiring the banner, Key Food said it planned to quickly rebrand some of its larger, more suburban supermarkets to the name, which has never been used in the New York Metro area.
Due to a storm in Snn the airport was closed so this 747 diverted into Dublin we also go a An124 in Dublin meant for Snn that day and it departed of runways 16 that evening !! no idea of date tho any help i would be greatful.
Promotional poster from one of A&P's many renewal campaigns...this one, launched in 1998, was called "The Great Renewal", and was CEO Christian Haub's newest plan to get the company back to profitability (again). The plan included closing unprofitable stores and divisions and upgrading the company's aging and outdated mainframe infrastructure, which was the backbone of its inefficient supply chain. The "Great Renewal" name was dropped mid-2000's, as the campaign sputtered and struggled, proving much more complex than initially planned, and people became demotivated.
As of early 2015, A&P was still struggling to implement a chainwide automated inventory replenishment system (commonly known as "CGO"--computer-generated ordering) which was implemented at most big chains (and even smaller regionals) since the late 90's.

This coming fall the new prototype for the A&P "Futurestore" will be unveiled in Allendale, New Jersey. With its unique exterior treatment and interior decor and color scheme, the style is unlike any A&P store ever seen. Service departments are emphasized, and include meat and fish departments, bakery and delicatessen, gourmet cheese, bulk foods, nutrition center and floral departments. While totally modern in approach, the store design utilizes elements that express the longstanding association of A&P with food products.
