Walking through Nottingham’s Lace Market I saw a young lady coming towards wearing a bright yellow top. As we got level, I introduced my stranger project to her and Anushka said yes to being photographed without giving my request a second thought.
We had met by a black door. Black doors for backgrounds seemed to be the theme of the day, as Anushka would be the third person I’d photographed in a row against a similar backdrop.
Much more light was falling on Anushka than the door which was a blessing as it stopped her black hair from blending in with the background. Making sure Anushka turned so she was facing the direction the light was coming from was all I needed to do before I started taking my photographs.
Anushka lives in Nottingham and is a content creator for jewellery. This is a job she very much enjoys.
Anushka also told me she likes meeting new people and one of her favourite pastimes is photography, specifically photographing architecture.
I asked Anushka to describe herself in one word and she said lively, she then said cheerful would be a good word for her too.
Anushka’s biggest strength is that she is relatable.
What is Anushka’s guilty pleasure? “Travelling too much,” she replied, then added, “especially as I can’t really afford to.”
