Back in the anus of my bus photography years (yes I know its annals, but there were some bum moments!), there were occasional pictures you were left wondering why you took. This one, at what I seem to recall was East Midland's Mansfield garage, was one such. (Now correctly identified as Worksop). Clearly it was never going to be possible to satisfactorily photograph individual buses here, so I just snapped the line with all the cars blocking it.
Now ... nearly 40 years on, the offending cars almost add something to the view as they too will have their supporters. My own Imp No.3, bought for seventy five quid, makes a cameo appearance on the left.
In the bus line-up we have Leyland / Albion Lowlanders with bodies by Alexander and Weymann, plus very rare low height Alexander bodied Leyland Atlanteans.
As I was reading the news this morning I became aware of my wife muttering something. About her anus, if I’d heard correctly. Other than making a mental note that this was the first time in 40 odd years I could recall the subject being raised I was not especially minded to prolong the conversation. As a rule it’s both a subject and an object I’ve been happy to steer clear of this past while and more. As she persisted I started to realise with some mystification it must be my anus she was on about and for reasons not immediately clear she was suggesting I might usefully align it with Pluto, otherwise I might contract conjunctivitis. Apart from not being convinced that this arrangement might actually ward off any infection I could not see how I would benefit from it. Further, it presented the practical challenge in that I am not generally obsessed with the location of Pluto. How I might find Pluto with my eyes would be difficulty enough. How my anus would align with it while my eyes were presumably facing near enough 180 degrees away from it was likely to prove insurmountable. As I started to give the subject a little more attention I began to realise with some relief that she was referring not to my anus but Uranus and its imminent conjunction with Pluto.
