When the fascist Scottish Defence League announced they were going to hold a protest today against the building of a mosque for the local Islamic community a counter demo was swiftly organised. When the fascists did arrive they were swiftly bundled into a mini bus (yes, it was that huge) by the police to the boos and jeers of a much, much larger crowd. The counter demo then marched into the centre of the city where two sides were kept well apart. I don't think there was any trouble and I know which side had the better of the day.
You've got to stand up to fascism.

This photo was taken during the March Against Racism in central London on Saturday on 18 March. Many activists were furious at the new anti-immigration legislation which is clearly in breach of international law.
Although there are no legal routes available to refugees from many Asian and African countries suffering from conflict and murderous repressive regimes, the Home Secretary, Suella Braverman, is overseeing legislation which will criminalize refugees risking their lives at sea to reach relative safety. They will now have their asylum claims denied as inadmissible.
As marchers reached Downing Street, Braverman was thousands of miles away in Rwanda, reaffirming the UK's commitment to illegally expelling refugees to the impoverished country, which itself has a poor human rights record.
I asked ChatGPT to write 10 reasons why welcoming refugees is beneficial to society. Although I share many people's concerns about what the impact of this technology might be, I was fairly impressed by its reply -
1. Boosts economy: Refugees have the potential to contribute to the economy by starting businesses, creating jobs, and adding to the workforce.
2. Increases cultural diversity: Refugees come from different cultural backgrounds and can enrich society's cultural diversity by sharing their traditions, customs, and experiences.
3. Fosters empathy and understanding: Welcoming refugees can help increase empathy and understanding among people from different backgrounds, leading to harmony and greater social cohesion.
4. Strengthens our humanitarian values: Taking in refugees is a reflection of our commitment to human rights and humanitarian obligations, and it demonstrates solidarity with those who are suffering and seeking safety.
5. Tackles brain drain in developing countries: Some refugees may have high levels of education and skills that are needed in their home countries. By providing opportunities for them to work and contribute in host countries, they can then return and help rebuild their communities.
6. Reduces conflict: By providing a safe haven for refugees, host communities can play a role in reducing the levels of conflict and instability that can lead to forced displacement.
7. Brings new perspectives and ideas: Refugees can bring fresh perspectives, ideas, and expertise that can help drive innovation and progress in various fields.
8. Strengthens global solidarity: By welcoming refugees, host countries demonstrate a commitment to global solidarity and cooperation, which can help build bridges across borders.
9. Helps to maximize their potential: Providing support and resources to refugees can help maximize their potential and enable them to contribute to their host communities in meaningful ways.
10. Enhances international relationships: Building positive relationships with refugees and their home countries can lead to new opportunities for cultural exchange, trade, and diplomacy, which can facilitate greater cooperation between nations.
Apologies if some of the photographs in this series are clearly overexposed, which is due to my own stupidity and negligence as I forgot to reset the white balance after some indoor photography.

I attended the 'Stand Up to Racism' event in Parliament Square (19.03.22). Among the many areas of protest was in response to the incident of a school student in Hackney. There is a petition at change.org to hold those responsible for this incident accountable.

Statement reads:
"I am shocked and saddened to hear of the young 15 Yr old black school girl strip searched by police whilst at school, during her exams, after her teachers accused her of "smelling of cannabis". In an even more sinister twist, this girl was on her period and even after explaining her situation, she was disbelieved and made to undergo what many would deem a degrading and traumatic sexual assault, as an unaccompanied minor, at the hands of two policewomen.
Her mother was not even contacted for consent or to be informed what was happening to her child.
Institutionalised racism within the Metropolitan Police is not new or surprising but what this report also shines a spotlight on is the shocking failures and covert racism within schools. How was this ever allowed to occur in an institution where safeguarding of children should be paramount?
No doubt this young girl will be traumatised and left with life long effects of being abused in such a manner by adults in positions of power, who were meant to protect her and not cause her harm.
Not only was the treatment of this child extremely racist, the subsequent report tries to victim blame and point fingers by highlighting their unfounded previous "concerns" surrounding the child." Jessica Pero

The Paris Pride March took place on the eve of parliamentary elections in France, which are likely to bring the far right to power with with a majority of MPs in the assembly.
The only force capable of preventing this is the left-wing coalition bringing together the main currents of the left and the ecologists.
This left-wing and green force is in the majority in big cities, like the popular 20th arrondissement in Paris where I live. Let's hope it will be heard, despite the media steamroller that favors the far right.
...the capital had taken a lot of refugees since the fall of the emirate, despite the queens ruling that hate-crimes would be punished severely and despite all had food and water supplied by the state mobs would sometimes form and they would hunt down poor random middle-easterlings and scream things like...
- infidels go back to your own country, you are nothing like barbarians anyway, they would welcome you...!!!
Or:
- That one that Turban-head he poisoned my cat, c´mon lets bash that Outlander and immigrant turban-head, they do nothing but, steal, lie and cast spells on us ordinary people...
...but don´t you worry these to poor victims made a successful escape and most of the mob got punished by the sherif well, except for the Fish-Mongrel himself a immigrant but not one of the "new" middle-easterling immigrants, he is a Easterling Immigrant much better if you ask him,,,
