Floris was put to sleep by the vet. 16 years old. He could not go on like this. He lost a lot of weight and strength and the inflamation of his nose got worser and worser .This was caused by a polyp in the nose against the eye socket that couldnot be operated. The antibiotics didnot work anymore. There was no longer any prospect of improvement.
The inflammation had become very bad. He was on painkillers the last two month.
De dierenarts heeft Floris laten inslapen. Net 16 jaar oud.

Didn't think he'd make it to his birthday. The polyps in the nose are still inflamed. I have to wipe his nose a lot. Still on prednisone and an antibiotic every few weeks. He doesn't eat much, but he still seems to enjoy life. Still following me like a dog and still playing now and then.
Also see the previous image of him I have posted.

Azizi had a visit to the vet today. He has had some white discharge coming out of his nose and the suspected respiratory infection was correct. He also very sweetly agreed to having his claws clipped!!!
I'm now tasked with giving him a nebuliser three times a day and giving him a minute dosage of antibiotic twice a day.
Wish me luck!! though I suspect he will embrace his treatment the laid back way he embraces the photography!!
Floris has had a chronic cat flu for a long time. Occasionally he is treated with antibiotics when he is really ill, but luckily he usually is not. Often a snot nose or a little blood from the nose, which you can see in this picture if you look closely.

Green Bottle Flies are common throughout North America. They are a type of blow fly that may lay their eggs in rotting meat. Historically, blow fly maggots have been used for "maggot therapy" in necrotic tissue, such as in infected, untreated wounds. With widespread availability of antibiotics, "maggot therapy" is seldom used currently. However, with antibiotic resistant bacteria becoming more common, maybe we will see hungry blow fly maggots used again someday :-))
Coreopsis spp. are naturally occuring wildflowers. Two species (or varieties) are planted in my "wildflower" garden.
Jasmijn has been suffering from an overactive thyroid gland for six months. She is being treated with drugs that had to be increased after a few months. She's not that active anymore. Also suffered from excessive vomiting due to inflammation of the stomach for a long time. She was given antibiotics injections and fortunately she is now doing better. Although she still eats little.

Floris went to a veterinary clinic two month ago where they looked into his nose with an endoscope. He continued to have inflammation of his right nose opening despite many different courses of antibiotics. They couldn't get up to the nose. With an X-ray it has been determined that there is a polyp at the very top of the eye socket. That would mean a major operation and because enlarged lymph nodes have also been found in the lungs which probably indicates a malignant process and given his age, he is almost 15 years old, very old for a Maine Coon, they advise not to operate. As long as possible prednisone and antibiotics. We have to wait and see how long he has a good time. Until now with antibiotics he feels well and eats. It doesnot seem to bother him now.
My first night photography without flash ... artificial light which helped me a little bit...
Dear Flickr Friends, during one of my photographing journeys at the end of June a kind of "notorious" parasite bit me and I fell terribly ill.
Now I am under antibiotic treatment and I do hope that I'll get well soon.
When I feel better, I'll visit your photostream and I'll answer your very kind comments.
Thank you so much for your attention and for the sympathy.
i am still quite sick (might need to call in the reinforcements of antibiotics)...
despite this, in spite of this,

Shadow is one of the three furbabies of my parents in Rochester, NY. He hasn't been feeling so great these days and is on antibiotics...we're hoping that takes care of his illness and gets him eating like normal again.

I don't know who this person is, the photo was taken spontaneously. I was just walking through the hall at the exhibition and saw this man in a red light. NAMM 2021 in Moscow, PROLIGHT+sound pavilion.
What did I get in the end?
Red - corresponds to the radiation of an electromagnetic wave with a length of approximately 625-740nm (the beam spectrum consists only of red).
RED color: It is often associated with energy, war and danger. This color has a strong emotional impact and can speed up metabolism, increase breathing rate and increase blood pressure.
Scientists from the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, Scotland) have developed a new method to combat antibiotic-resistant pathogenic bacteria in the hospital environment. It consists in the use of high intensity light. The new disinfection method proved to be much more effective than conventional cleaning and disinfection. As microbiologist John Anderson explains, this uses "a narrow spectrum of visible wavelengths that magnetize the molecules contained in the bacterial environment."

Before I get started I wanted to say thank you for the well wishes I received, as I mentioned in my last post I am fighting off a chest infection and this ole Beast is winning, so infection is now thankfully in decline, due to a heavy holistic approach of hot Apple Cider Vinegar Tea, pure Cranberry Juice / Immune Boosters (Via fruit / veg intake) and natural fruit based Iron. Plus Vit C and Zink. No antibiotics!
Now, this photo I took a few weeks back, Sunsets here in rural Germany are incredible, if you can get to a good spot in time, this was while I was heading to one. I don't know if anyone else gets this, but at the end of a day, it's that unnamed feeling, the light becomes to a diminishing level and the new dimension of near darkness and perception, atmosphere and emotion begins to birth itself unto the perception of the mind of the viewer / witness, suddenly before you is a cinematic scene in real-time; it's as if you are still on Earth but in this moment, a new way of existentialism has made itself known.
Seeing the end of the day begin is akin to seeing it begin, I really do think the extreme opposite is the eventually becoming the same thing as what it originally opposed. Look no further than politics!
I hope everyone is well and please do have a GREAT weekend!
On the 28th June 1914, Archduke Franz Ferdinand was travelling to a hospital in Sarajevo when his driver took the wrong route and stopped to back up the car. As he was reversing, the car stalled in front of a cafe, where a member of the black hand terrorist group, Gavrilo Princip, happened to be buying a sandwich.
This coincidental mishap allowed Princip the opportunity to shoot and assassinate the Archduke, thus setting in motion the events of WW1.
Think about this. If Gavrilo Princip hadn't have stopped to buy a sandwich where he did on 28th June 1914, WW1 might never have happened. Tens of millions of people wouldn't have died. European nations would have put more resources into building economies. The US would have remained more isolated from the rest of the world. Germany would not have been punished at Versailles, and Hitler would not have risen to power.
When Princip stopped for that sandwich, he began a chain of events that would lead to the need for antibiotics and blood transfusions. The need for military spending, which drove the advent of nuclear energy and the internet.
If Princip didn't stop for that sandwich, many of our grandparents wouldn't have crossed paths.
Sometimes we need to remind ourselves it's the whim of a minute that can change everything.
There are 9 types of echinacea, three of which are used for medicinal purposes, native to North America. In herbal medicine, the leaves and seeds of this plant are used, but its roots have the most valuable healing properties.
For centuries, Echinacea has endowed people with its extraordinary beauty and healing properties. For its lovely inflorescences, Echinacea is called the "American golden flower" or "evening sun". And today, with its unusually attractive inflorescences, it will decorate any garden, and beekeepers will appreciate it - after all, it is an excellent honey plant. Blooming from mid-summer to mid-autumn, Echinacea flowers attract many butterflies, bees and bumblebees to the garden. As a honey plant, the plant is valuable because it blooms at the end of summer, when the main honey plants have already faded. From one hectare of continuous crops of echinacea, 60-130 kg of honey can be obtained.
Only Echinacea purpurea has been well studied, it is widely used in medicine and is popular in ornamental gardening. The American Indians, knowing about the healing power of echinacea, cultivated it centuries ago and used it as a universal medicine for a variety of diseases.
Echinacea roots and herb contain essential oils, resins, phytosterols, carbohydrates, isobutylamides, fatty oil, and a variety of other substances. 7 groups of biologically active substances have been found in plants, which include polysaccharides, flavonoids, caffeic acid derivatives, essential lipids, alkylamides, vitamins and trace elements.
Experts recommend taking echinacea for any septic conditions, symptoms of blood poisoning, meningitis, bronchitis, tonsillitis, otitis media, burns, boils and purulent ulcers, gangrene, stomatitis, gum disease, candidiasis, psoriasis, eczema, inflammatory processes of the genitourinary system, postlercosis , gonorrhea, herpes, hemorrhoids.
As it turned out, echinacea not only stimulates antiviral and antibacterial immunity, but also directly, like antibiotics, causes the death of bacteria, viruses and some fungi. It is especially effective to use echinacea during epidemics, as it helps the body to cope with viral diseases. Echinacea extracts inhibit the growth and reproduction of streptococcus, staphylococcus, Escherichia coli. The preparations of this plant are effective in the treatment of prostatitis, gynecological disorders, various wound processes (trophic ulcers, osteomyelitis). Juice from fresh inflorescences accelerates blood clotting. In general, the remedy is recognized as non-toxic, but in some cases it is not recommended to take echinacea - during pregnancy and lactation, with tuberculosis, leukemia, multiple sclerosis, collagenosis.

THANK YOU for your visit, it means a lot, please leave a comment, and will return the visit soon as possible, bless you all .......................Tomx.
My Bob has had a rough week... last Thursday we had to rush him to the emergency vet because he was staining to make.... he was yowling all over the house, staining while he was walking.... the vet said his bladder was full and he had a blockage.... after flushing him out in both areas, we took him home... a few days and he still acted strange... constantly going in and out of the box and nothing... but then he did make and what a relief...
On Monday I took him to our vet and she did a lot of tests, even a urine culture.... thank goodness his levels are not bad and he's acting like his old self.... he is 17 years old!
She put him on an antibiotic for a week and I'm hoping that will also help him feel better.
It's so scary and heartbreaking when you know they don't feel well and they can't tell you what is wrong...
Thank God he is doing better... so we want to wish everyone a Happy Caturday and enjoy the rest of the weekend!!
The name bottle fly is applied to numerous species of blowfly, in the genera Lucilia and Phaenicia. These flies are found in most areas of the world, and the most well-known species is the common greenbottle, Phaenicia sericata (or Lucilia sericata, depending on authority), though there are other common species such as Lucilia caesar, Lucilia cuprina, and Lucilia illustris. The maggots of this fly are known to preferentially consume dead tissue while leaving live tissue intact, and so have been sold for use in maggot therapy, primarily during the years before the widespread use of antibiotics and medicines.

A week ago she was at the Vet.
We took her because there may have been a spot of blood in her urine. She's drinking a lot of water and getting a lot thinner at the back end. She's like a fire truck and the front driver and the back driver are no longer talking to each other. She is drinking water like a fish. So we took Catillack to the Vet. She's 17. Maybe a bladder infection is what was the conclusion.
She got a shot of an antibiotic that will last 3 weeks.
She's in Maine now and feeling much better.
Thanks Everybody!!
Nasturtium can act as a disinfectant and wound healing plant. All parts of the plant appear to have antibiotic effect, and the herb is used primarily as a means of urinary tract infections and respiratory tract infections.
Tea made from this flower can be used to increase resistance to bacterial infections and to remove cataracts in nose and bronchi. Apparently, the plant works both by damping the cataracts and by helping to dissolve the mucus so that it can be coughed up.
Nasturtium otherwise has the reputation of promoting the formation of red blood cells. The plant has a high content of Ferrum and vitamin C, and can be used in the food to prevent cold and bad throat.
Nasturtium can be eaten;
The leaves, the flowers, the flower buds and the nectar spores on the flower blossom can be eaten raw. They have a crisp, caress-like taste and can put a nice tip on salads and sandwiches.
Always surch for knowledge in your own language, tho ♥🙏
A very pretty demansia vestigiata that was photographed on the Fraser Coast.
This lesser black whip snake was picked up as result of a call out from the local hospital who wanted it removed from their premises. Once captured it was observed to have an injured tail. The flesh was blackened and foul to the bone indicating necrosis. After a quick vet trip for an operation it went on to spend a couple of weeks in care. That care involved oral pain medication and antibiotics given daily. No part of this exercise did the snake appreciate…
The snake was successfully released back into the wild sans part of its tail #venomous #elapid
Word to the wise: carry a back-up camera. The main one went south the day before, luckily I had this one. On a personal level, I too went south the evening after this shot. Walking pneumonia, they said. But two days slow pace and thanks to antibiotics back on the road.
I've been off Flickr for a few days because of medical appointments and a day to recover. Tomorrow the tick that I took off me is going to the hospital for testing to see if it's carrying any diseases. I've been on antibiotics and hope that I'll be able to go off them soon.
I injured my hand the end of August and after a long ordeal of emergency room visits, appointments with specialists, and a pretty major allergic reaction to the antibiotics, I had surgery mid September. My hand is mostly healed and now that I'm able to hold a camera again, I'm ready to take some new pictures.
This was from the summer trip to Grand Teton National Park.

The photo of Tofu lurking under the rhodie in our garden was taken a few days ago. His eyes aren't that wide open today, especially the left one, as he has a conjunctivitis. The vet prescribed antibiotic eye drops which I apply three times a day. Tofu is excited ...

St.John's wort The red, oily extract of H. perforatum has been used in the treatment of wounds, including by the Knights Hospitaller, the Order of St John. Both hypericin and hyperforin are under study for their potential antibiotic properties.
A mushroom is the fleshy, spore-bearing fruiting body of a fungus, typically produced above ground on soil or on its food source.
The standard for the name "mushroom" is the cultivated white button mushroom, Agaricus bisporus; hence the word "mushroom" is most often applied to those fungi (Basidiomycota, Agaricomycetes) that have a stem (stipe), a cap (pileus), and gills (lamellae, sing. lamella) on the underside of the cap. These gills produce microscopic spores that help the fungus spread across the ground or its occupant surface.
Mushroom describes a variety of gilled fungi, with or without stems, and the term is used even more generally, to describe both the fleshy fruiting bodies of some Ascomycota and the woody or leathery fruiting bodies of some Basidiomycota, depending upon the context of the word.
Many mushroom species produce secondary metabolites that can be toxic, mind-altering, antibiotic, antiviral, or bioluminescent. Although there are only a small number of deadly species, several others can cause particularly severe and unpleasant symptoms.
Toxicity likely plays a role in protecting the function of the basidiocarp: the mycelium has expended considerable energy and protoplasmic material to develop a structure to efficiently distribute its spores. One defense against consumption and premature destruction is the evolution of chemicals that render the mushroom inedible, either causing the consumer to vomit the meal, or to learn to avoid consumption altogether.

Fynn lurking in the grass on a sunny day earlier this week. He is still having various health issues and on Thursday I had to take him to the vet again for an X-ray and other tests. For now he gets antibiotics but it's already clear that further tests will be required. Fynn certainly feels sick, sleeps more than usual but he still has times when he is very active and behaves normally. He enjoyed the nice weather a lot and spent a lot of time outdoors. Now we are back to colder and rainy weather and he can relax indoors and hopefully slowly recover.

Culinary
Salad with flowers and leaves
All parts of Tropaeolum majus are edible. The flower has most often been consumed, making for an especially ornamental salad ingredient; it has a slightly peppery taste reminiscent of watercress, and is also used in stir fry. The flowers contain about 130 mg vitamin C per 100 grams (3.5 oz), about the same amount as is contained in parsley. Moreover, they contain up to 45 mg of lutein per 100 g, which is the highest amount found in any edible plant. The unripe seed pods can be harvested and dropped into spiced vinegar to produce a condiment and garnish, sometimes used in place of capers.
Mashua (T. tuberosum) produces an edible underground tuber that is a major food source in parts of the Andes.
Herbal medicine[edit]
T. majus has been used in herbal medicine for respiratory and urinary tract infections.
In Germany, licensed physicians are allowed to prescribe the herbal antibiotic, Angocin Anti-Infekt N, made from only nasturtium and horseradish root.
A shot taken a few days ago when we had nice weather. While I worked in the garden Fynn enjoyed his freedom and did what cats have to do. He is still doing well despite the ups and downs of our weather. No antibiotics in almost a year which is very unusual as Fynn has always needed constant antibiotics for months during winter. As he likes cold weather much more than the heat of summer, I'm very happy that for once he can really enjoy this season at good health and spend as much time outdoors as he wants.
I haven't felt well all week and on Wednesday I went to see a doctor (which tells everybody who knows me that I felt really sick). He diagnosed a pyelonephritis and prescribed antibiotics. I tried to continue with my work and everything else as usual on Wednesday but had to accept on Thursday that I needed to rest. Today I feel slightly better and as the weather has been nice for a change I went to a local park. I still feel quite weak and didn't walk around much but I was very happy to sit at a pond and watch some ducklings. This photo is heavily cropped as Mama Duck was very nervous and didn't want me to get too close. She calmed down a bit when I just sat down and watched but that didn't mean that I was allowed to move. The little ones were tiny, most people who walked by didn't even notice them.

The Kingdom Fungi includes some of the most important organisms, both in terms of their ecological and economic roles. By breaking down dead organic material, they continue the cycle of nutrients through ecosystems. In addition, most vascular plants could not grow without the symbiotic fungi, or mycorrhizae, that inhabit their roots and supply essential nutrients. Other fungi provide numerous drugs (such as penicillin and other antibiotics), foods like mushrooms, truffles and morels, and the bubbles in bread, champagne, and beer.

Dahlia pinnata (D. × pinnata) is a species in the genus Dahlia, family Asteraceae, with the common name garden dahlia. It is the type species of the genus and is widely cultivated.
Used as an ornamental plant, and was cultivated by the Aztecs before the discovery of America, and was introduced to Spain in 1798. Modern dahlias are often the product of hybridisation between D. pinnata and D. coccinea. As cutflowers, dahlia have a long lifespan.[6]
Besides being used for their outside appearance, dahlias tend to be used for their medicinal properties as well. This plant's roots contain some "nutritious inulin stored inside them" and they even have "antibiotic compounds concentrated in the skin of the tubers." This was so much so that this garden dahlia was before such an "important root crop and medicinal plant among the pre-Columbian Indians of central Mexico, Yucatan and Guatemala."
The girls at 5 months.. Growing but still very small for their age. They are still sick and have had every test imaginable. Spider silk is one of the most miraculous natural substances on Earth. Most building materials are either strong or elastic, but spider silk is both. It's been described as stronger than steel (which is not quite accurate, but close), more impenetrable than Kevlar, and stretchier than nylon. It withstands a lot of strain before breaking, which is the very definition of a tough material. Spider silk also conducts heat and is known to have antibiotic properties.

I have just had my second AstraZeneca vaccine. I have been feeling a little unwell since then, but the doctor is not sure it is a reaction to the vaccine as I haven't felt 100% even since the first. He thinks it is possibly due to the fact that I am still suffering with Cellulitis in my leg which is not really improving even after multiple courses of antibiotics. It has been going on for so long now.
Last Thursday Maya swallowed her last antibiotic and she seemed to be doing better.
This morning she had diarrhea again so we went back to the vet. She gained 115 grams of weight which is good, she plays and eats but he again prescribed 10 days of antibiotics and 5 anti-diarrhea injections.
This pancreatitis is probably not completely cured, or it's the food or she ate an insect .....
Let's go with these 10 days of the pill and we'll see.
You can imagine that I am not the happiest at the moment .....

Timmy has had problems with his right front leg for eight days - he does not put any weight on it, but walks on three legs. Last Friday, the leg was x-rayed. Nothing broken, nothing noticeable. Today the vet x-rayed the shoulder joint: a shadow can be seen slightly below the joint, which is not there on the other side.
He is now on antibiotics and is not allowed to go outside any
more in order to spare the leg.
The problem is that he can hardly defend himself on three legs and his enemies have already discovered that he is handicapped. The result: several small sores on his head, which he hasn't had for many weeks.
He will probably have to stay indoors until the leg is better.
