We passed through the town gate back to Port Vauban and had another look at some of the boats there.

Antibes is very well known for its yachts and there is a reason for that. The city is home to Port Vauban, the largest marina in Europe.

The port is worldwide known for its ‘’billionaires’ quay’’ aimed to accommodate the largest yachts in the world. The construction of this marina cost nearly 35 million euros where many of the owners contributed and secured a place for their yacht.

It is the cosmopolitan side of Antibes, with large and luxury ships. The port is also very important for the city’s economy and there are also many professional activities such as professional fishing, shipyards and nautical clubs. (From visitthefrenchriviera.com)

In the distance you can see Fort Carré. We didn't have time or energy to visit and it would have been quite a long walk round. At least we could see it from here!

The Fort Carré was one of the first fortified strongholds to be built in the Renaissance under the orders of the King of France, Henri II. It was used to guard the nearby border with the County of Nice and to defend the town of Antibes. (From antibesjuanlespins.com/)

JJ and I took photos out of the train window as we left the attractive town of Antibes.

We all posed with this 'Bucket head' sculpture but this is my favourite shot of him, with JJ keeping him company and helping him with his mobile phone! Sculpture by David David, a French artist.

David David is an intelligent Artist creating joyful and completely emblematic sculptures. Mostly it is Cannes, Saint Tropez, yet more cities to showcase in public or in privacy the David David divine creations. (From ecodna.art)

The sculpture that denounces smartphone addiction will remain on the bench permanently. (Translated from Nice-Matin July 2023)
