This piece was designed around my research and experience with people's love/hate extreme reactions to patchouli. 90% lovely smooth surfaces, with euphoric swirls vs 10% bumpy undesirable cone shape protruding out from beneath with curling twisted tendrils creeping up like scent to a nose. This symbolizes how 90% of people absolutely love the scent, wandering around to seek out it's origin, desperately NEEDING to know what it is and where it is coming from, not unlike catnip to a cat (it IS a member of the catnip family of plant). But in contrast to that, 10% of the public are so repulsed by it that otherwise calm people, go into quite the dramatic display vocalizing to everyone in earshot how disgusted they are with "that awful smell" .
Other symbolism of my research are: bells and ankle placement=India adornments, tiny bells from jewelry of India, plant leaf shapes at bottom, euphoric swirl design as in mehndi decoration and also because it is said to have a euphoric effect, and amber and orange colored droplets symbolized the colors of the oils the plant produces when leaves are distilled to make the fragrance.
My take on the "silver sixpence in her shoe" :) I was barefoot, so I had a very talented Etsy artist turn a sixpence I provided her into an anklet for me!

This is the next in my Elemental necklace series- "Smaug's Ire" represents Fire.
This necklace is crocheted from yarn that's 50% wool and 50% hemp, strung with Fire-colored beads. At the center is a pewter Dragon charm, and around it are glass, plastic, and polymer clay (I made the clay ones) beads in black, orange, red, and yellows. The red cord/yarn is actually more red than it looks in the photos against the grass background; it's actually a crimson color.
The entire necklace is about 44" (111.8 cm) long (including extra cord to tie with where it isn't crocheted), but the crocheted, thicker part is about 29" (73.7 cm). You tie the necklace in the back, so it can fit any size neck, and can be worn tighter or looser (personally I usually wear this style as a choker or tight necklace).
It can also be worn as an anklet!
