"UPDATE: Sadly this magnificent beast was killed the week of October 18th on a questionable State Tag. An investigation is currently underway. R.I.P to The GOAT!"
"The GOAT."
Elk of Benezette
Elk, also known as Wapiti or Red Deer, enjoy large populations in North America, primarily in western parts of the United States and Canada. These large relatives of deer are also found in smaller populations in other parts of the world, in protected native groups or introduced populations. Their preference for open woodlands and a range of elevations make many states habitable for elk, though their current range is much smaller than their historical range.
Elk in the United States
The western U.S. and Rocky Mountain regions make up the bulk of the elk range in the United States, though some populations exist farther east. Significant populations are found in Washington, Oregon, California, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Nevada, Colorado, Utah, Arizona and New Mexico, such as in Yellowstone National Park and the Wyoming National Elk Refuge. Smaller pockets of elk can be found in various Midwestern states, such as South Dakota and Minnesota, and small populations have been established in eastern states including Pennsylvania and Kentucky.

Unfortunately this is not the Sharpest of images (taken through a glass window in a fairly dark enclosure), but it's fine for Flickr purposes!

Disney's Animal Kingdom

Expedition Everest
For now, this is a rare sight. That's because Disney's Animal Kingdom no longer offers evening Extra Magic Hours and frequently closes at around 5pm. Despite there being some complaints in the fan community about nixing evening EMH at Animal Kingdom (then again, what don't some "fans" complain about?!), I fully support the decision. While Animal Kingdom is incredibly photogenic at night, the already-limited attraction lineup is even more limited at night. A park can't stay open at night just for the sake of photography (even as much as some of us might wish for it!).
I say "for now" because I fully expect Animal Kingdom to be open at night once the Avatar expansion at Animal Kingdom opens. Now that should be rife with photo ops!

see how the water is all murky? right as i came strolling up, the hippo slowly glided by the viewing windows in a very graceful, angelic manner with it's belly towards the glass. about halfway across, without skipping a beat, it gently released its bowels for the entire crowd's viewing pleasure.
ah, nature.
I know that this is not the best one can do.. but I am posting it becouse this is the best I have right now..
