The Cèdre Gouraud Forest, in the Middle Atlas mountains of Morocco, is home to a significant subpopulation of Barbary macaques (Macaca sylvanus), primates also known as Barbary apes. This species, endemic to North Africa and the only monkey that lives naturally on the African continent outside the sub-Saharan regions, is threatened with extinction. The forest's name derives from a century-old Atlas cedar named after General Gouraud, whose trunk continues to be a tourist attraction after his death. The monkeys have adapted to the presence of humans, frequently interacting with visitors. This ecosystem, dominated by Atlas cedars, is crucial for the conservation of biodiversity, serving as a vital habitat for these primates. The survival of Barbary macaques faces challenges such as habitat loss and human pressure, making it essential to raise awareness about responsible practices and respect for the local ecosystem.

I love walking about, just let my legs pull me in strange directions, that was before covid, now most of the walking is done at my tiny room and yeah I run and dance a bit on the sport just to compensate for my lost outdoor exercise...

so there has been a long time that I have been kept from doing my favorite pass time...

...anyhow this is a pic from before when I traversed reality as a normal person...

Here in Sweden I usually would end up in places with as few people as possible, often down the enormous harbor area almost empty since most activity stopped there long ago...

...usually I would have my camera with me to snap pictures of mold, rust and buildings and a bag if I would find some beautiful rusty artifact to take home and feast my eyes on...

...one such day, when I was down snapping with my came I noticed that I was followed...

...a cat was following me watching what I was doing, it probably though what a strange human, walking around studying molds and snapping urban flowers...

I kept walking and so did this cat, so instead of talking to my self as I usually do, I started talking to the cat and sometimes it would reply with a meow!

...as I traveled deeper in to the desolate locations in the harbor, the cat came steadily closer and closer to me...

...it had no necklace so I didn´t know if it was a stray cat or a kept one just out on adventure...

...since I was a child the story about the stray cat who lodged it jaws in to my mums arm when she petted it, is a story that has made me be carful with unknown cats...

when I started to return to more civilized parts of my city, it was very close to me, sometimes sitting next to me while snapping daisies breaking trough asphalt, I bet it was thinking: Hey human, there are plenty of those and they are no good for eating, so why are you staring so much at them...

...as now when I was almost back in inhabited areas it started going around my legs stroking my jeans as if it wanted to say goodbye...

it Meowed like it was saying, common stupid human, pet me, what are you afraid of, so I did and then we said goodbye and parted, it went back to the harbor area while I carried on in to the more central part of the town I live in...

mind the candle, (oldie, still useful)

as ever making things far more intense,

why, of course it's within you to fixate.

you, who knew to stick with animalhuman. something was being created before it happened, yet still she tells you to pray, when disappointment rains day after, and brother reminds you of your nature.

when, what you thought was there in a moment makes years feel flippant and weightless. when you thought the layers had meaning. when you thought you would eventually share time - sunset through an airplane window, shimmering tent, tall firs, standing stones all soaked in the orange of evenings glow. they stand out there for you to appreciate now, solo, as figurines in some muted diorama. you, who knew it was all within, the incandescent candle which meant you could see through the dark. you saw the carer behind the mask, you saw the commitment and knew it wasn't yours to navigate. you, who waited and were forgotten, still held the light, and how it has been warming, no need to extinguish, this hope is yours was created for you to place where you will as stones across a river, when in need, search and it will be your most sacred, perennial warmth.
