"Bloody Angle" Doyers Street in Chinatown (NYC)

Doyers Street in Chinatown, New York is called The Bloody Angle for its violent history. Doyers is a street with a sharp corner (hence the name) and departs from Bowery just below Canal Street. The street witnessed a remarkable number of shootings among the Tong Gangs of Chinatown between 1870 and 1930. The street was ideal for street battles not just because of its angle but also because of the tunnels that connected the buildings.

This was an old bottle of hooch that was given to my grandfather-in-law when he had his own real estate firm back in the 50's.

Angle face, carved out of wood on the front door of an old chapel in the centre of Annecy, France. Looks baroque style, so made between 1700 and 1750.

Our day started out cold and dreary. The house never felt warm. So I was thrilled to see the sun emerge in the late afternoon. Tall stalks and their luminous about-to-fly- free seeds gleamed down by the pond. I couldn't stay away.
