Im Jahr 2005 erbaute der italienische Stararchitekt Renzo Piano das ikonische Zentrum Paul Klee am Rande der Bundesstadt. Nebst der weltweit bedeutendsten Klee-Sammlung warten hier vielfältige Angebote, Naherholung, eine attraktive Event-Location und vor allem eine lebendige Kulturszene. Bern Bundesstadt und UNESCO-Weltkulturerbe, erhielt 2005 ein neues Wahrzeichen: das Zentrum Paul Klee. Die wellenartige Stahl- und Glas-Konstruktion des italienischen Stararchitekten Renzo Piano ist schon für sich einen Besuch wert.
Die drei geschwungenen Hügel des Bauwerkes und seine zarten Linien verschmelzen mit der umliegenden Landschaft. Umgeben von Feldern und einem großzügigen Park, lässt es sich hier wunderbar spazieren.
Wer entlang der Wege rund um das Zentrum Paul Klee schlendert, entdeckt immer wieder Strassenschilder mit kuriosen Namen. Insgesamt sind 18 Wege rund um das Gebäude nach Klees Meisterwerken benannt.

In addition to the world's most important Klee collection, the centre offers a wide range of activities, local recreation, an attractive event location and, above all, a lively cultural scene. Bern, the federal city and UNESCO World Heritage Site, was given a new landmark in 2005: the Paul Klee Centre. The wave-like steel and glass construction by Italian star architect Renzo Piano is worth a visit in itself.
The building's three curved hills and its delicate lines blend into the surrounding landscape. Surrounded by fields and a spacious park, it is a wonderful place to stroll.
If you stroll along the paths around the Zentrum Paul Klee, you will discover street signs with curious names again and again. A total of 18 paths around the building are named after Klee's masterpieces.

Am 10. August 2022 war der seit geraumer Zeit unter der Regie von ecco-rail verkehrende DGS 95032 von Köln Eifeltor nach Triest mit der 193 202 von ELL bespannt. Der Vectron wirbt für eine Unternehmensberatung, die sich auf Logistik-Angebote spezialisiert hat. Bei Obereichstätt im Altmühltal konnte der fast einheitlich mit Aufliegern der Spedition Ekol beladene KLV-Zug von mir fotografiert werden.
On 10 August 2022, freight train DGS 95032 from Cologne Eifeltor to Trieste, which has been operating under the management of ecco-rail for some time now, was hauled by ELL's 193 202. The Vectron is advertising for a consultancy specialising in logistics services. Near Obereichstätt I was able to photograph the intermodal train, which was almost uniformly loaded with trailers from the Ekol trucking company.
Nach Fertigstellung der Elektrifizierung der Strecke über Memmingen nach Lindau gibt es dort inzwischen auch einige private Güterzüge zu beobachten. Neben gelegentlich verkehrenden Kesselwagen- und Getreidezügen handelt es sich dabei primär um Containerzüge von und nach Wolfurt in Vorarlberg. Neben RheinCargo und der SETG bietet auch Lokomotion eine Verbindung in Eigenregie an. Allerdings läßt die Auslastung der Züge aktuell oft zu wünschen übrig. Teilweise nur mit einem Container beladen, kommt beim Fotografen und insbesondere bei den Kaufleuten des jeweiligen EVUs wenig Freude auf. Die Zeit wird zeigen, ob sich die neuen Angebote erablieren - zu wünschen ist es auf jeden Fall. Am 31. März 2021 hatte ich allerdings Glück, der DGS 41911 von München-Riem nach Wolfurt war halbwegs akzeptabel beladen. Bei Kottgeisering konnte ich den Wolfurt-Shuttle mit seiner Zuglok 151 074 in der vorfrühlingshaften Landschaft fotografieren.

Für einen Außenstehenden ist es schwer zu überblicken, wann der als "Ekol" bekannte KLV-Zug DGS 95693 von Triest nach Köln Eifeltor den Weg über Augsburg oder Ingolstadt nimmt, denn beide Varianten sind regelmäßig zu beobachten. Am 09. Juni 2023 war ersteres der Fall und die Leistung fuhr mir kurz vor Donauwörth vor die Linse. Zuglok war die von ELL angemietete 193 202. Der Vectron wirbt für eine Unternehmensberatung, die sich auf Logistik-Angebote spezialisiert hat.
For an outsider, it is difficult to keep track of when the intermodal train known as "Ekol" DGS 95693 from Trieste to Cologne Eifeltor takes the route via Augsburg or Ingolstadt, because both variants can be observed regularly. Vor 19 Jahren kaufte ich mir die Nikon D80, die erste bezahlbare Nikon-DSLR mit 10 MP. 2012 kam dann die D800e und als ich die D80 verkaufen wollte, waren die Angebote so schlecht, dass ich sie behielt. Als sie ca. 10 Jahre alt war, fing sie an einigen Stellen an klebrig zu werden, ein bekanntes Problem wenn sich der Kunststoff irgendwie aufzulösen beginnt, und ich fasste sie einige Jahre nicht an. Vor ein paar Monaten gelang es mir dann jedoch sie komplett zu reinigen, so gut, dass sie sich fast wie neu anfühlte. Klasse. Nun fand ich auch noch ein 26 Jahre altes SIGMA 28-200 im Schrank. Objektiv wie auch die Kamera funktionieren wie am ersten Tag.
Kein Bildstabilisator, aber, hey, zu analogen Zeiten ging's auch ohne, man muss nur wissen wie. Kein Klappdisplay, geht man halt mal wieder auf die Knie. Nur 10 MP, wenn man keine Ausschnitts-Vergrößerung machen möchte, reicht das aber auch. Und gegen das Rauschen ab ISO 3600 gibt es heute fantastische Software.

Nineteen years ago, I bought the Nikon D80, the first affordable Nikon DSLR with 10 MP. Then, in 2012, the D800e came out, and when I wanted to sell the D80, the offers were so bad that I kept it. When it was about ten years old, it started to get sticky in a few places—a known problem when the plastic starts to deteriorate—and I didn't touch it for several years. A few months ago, however, I managed to clean it completely, so well that it felt almost like new. Great! Now I've also found a 26-year-old Sigma 28-200 in the closet. Both the lens and the camera work like they did on day one.
No image stabilization, but hey, we managed without it in the analog days; you just had to know how. No flip screen, so you just have to get down on your knees again. Only 10 MP, but if you don't want to crop the image, that's enough. And there's fantastic software available today to combat noise at ISO 3600 and above.

This year, the state capital is using the project to promote offers for growing vegetables and fruit on private and public areas. The initiative came from the Committee for Environmental Protection.

Kurz nach Sonnenuntergang am Südufer des Phoenixsee in Dortmund an einem fies kalten Neujahrstag 2017. Der Phoenix-See ist ein künstlich angelegter See auf dem ehemaligen Stahlwerksareal Phoenix-Ost im Dortmunder Stadtteil Hörde. Rund um den 1,2 km langen See ist eine interessante architektonische Mischung aus modernen Bürogebäuden, Ein- und Mehrfamilienhäuser entstanden. Am Hafen des Südufer befindet sich die Hörder Burg und vielfältige gastronomische Angebote.

The name Chinatown has been used at different times to describe different places in London. The present Chinatown is part of the City of Westminster, occupying the area in and around Gerrard Street. It contains a number of Chinese restaurants, bakeries, supermarkets, souvenir shops, and other Chinese-run businesses.
Wie viele der ganz großen Metropolen in der westlichen Welt hat auch London eine Chinatown. Heutzutage ist die Chinatown eine Touristenattraktion. Viele der Angebote in den Läden und Restaurants sind vor allem für Touristen gedacht. Es gibt aber auch Läden, in dessen die Angebote nur in chinesischen Schriftzeichen angeschrieben sind und die fast nur asiatische Kunden haben.

Lago di Piano Natural Reserve is located in Val Menaggio, between Lake Como and Lake Lugano.
The small fishing lake, with a coast somewhere jagged, is marvellous during the summer, when the water lilies cover it almost completely. Magic and spectral during the winter, when the place gets grey tinges and the surface of the lake becomes ice.
Lago di Piano Natural Reserve is a great stop for an excursion in the area around Porlezza, just before reaching the coasts of Lake Lugano.
During the summer is possible to stop on the shore, enjoy the peaceful moments of this place and the warm temperature that characterizes the area. But in the winter everything changes: the iced surface is polish, but you can’t skating on. Everything freezes up and mutes: here is the magic of the winter on Lake Como.

Ein 1,5-stündiger Fußmarsch von Croce (weiter nach Bene Lario) oberhalb von Menaggio führt sie zum Naturschutzgebiet. Natürlich ist auch eine Anfahrt mit dem Auto möglich.
Am See beim Parkplatz befinden sich ein Restaurant, der Anfang der Rundwanderung, eine Bootsvermietung und eine Infotafel. Etwas weiter östlich tauchen schnell der Campingplatz und weitere touristische Angebote auf. Im Frühjahr und Herbst kann man hier seltene Vogelarten beobachten.

Auf Einladung unserer Nachbarn sind wir mit ihnen mit ihrem Auto einmal zum etwa 60 km von uns entfernten großen Einkaufsmarkt auf dem polnischen Ufer der Oder mitgefahren, der gegenüber dem deutschen Ort Hohenwutzen liegt. Da in Polen immer noch viele Preise deutlich niedriger sind als in Deutschland, haben sich entlang der Grenze mehrere solcher Märkte etabliert. Besonders günstig sind Zigaretten und Kraftstoffe, die in Deutschland hoch besteuert werden. Wir waren zuletzt noch in den späten 80er Jahren einmal durch Hohenwutzen gekommen und hatten über den Fluss geschaut. Am anderen Ufer war prominent eine Industrieruine mit offenen Fensterhöhlen zu sehen neben einer notdürftig reparierten Brücke, die aber nicht für den Publikumsverkehr geöffnet war. Und da hat es uns schon interessiert, einmal zu schauen, wie es dort aussieht. Diese damalige Ruine und ihre Umgebung beherbergen heute den Polenmarkt Hohenwutzen, das ist seine Eigenbezeichnung.
In den Gebäuden befand sich bis 1945 die Zellstoff – und Papierfabrik Niederwutzen, die in der Zeit 1936 bis 1938 von dem Konzern Waldhof erbaut worden ist. Über 400 Menschen sollen hier damals mit der Herstellung von Zellstoff und Papier beschäftigt gewesen sein. Seinerzeit gab es hier auch noch eine Bahnstrecke, die jedoch wie auch die damalige Oder-Brücke im Krieg zerstört worden ist. Während eines Kampfs Anfang 1945 zwischen einer SS-Fallschirmspringereinheit und der sowjetischen Armee wurde der Ort fast vollständig zerstört, während die Fabrik mit ihren Gebäuden im Wesentlichen erhalten blieb. Außer dem riesigen Schornstein des Heizkraftwerks, welcher 1945 gesprengt wurde, sind die meisten Gebäude erhalten geblieben. Durch die massive Bauweise der Gebäude konnten sie der schweren Schlacht um Niederwutzen standhalten, auch wenn man bis heute die Spuren der Bombeneinschläge und Granatsplitter deutlich sehen kann. Nach Kriegsende sind praktisch alle Anlagen und Maschinen aus der Zellstoff- und Papierfabrik demontiert und in die Sowjetunion verbracht worden.
Nachdem das Gelände im Dornröschenschlaf versunken war, kam ab 1992 neues Leben auf. Anfänglich mit der Produktion von Korbwaren, Schildern und kleinen Booten, bald danach mit den ersten Marktständen und einer Tankstelle. Stetig entwickelte sich so auf dem ehemaligen Fabrikgelände einer der größten Märkte an der deutsch/polnischen Grenze. Seit 2018 finden umfangreiche Sanierungs- und Erweiterungsmaßnahmen auf dem insgesamt 50ha großen Areal statt. Die ehemaligen Fabrikhallen werden sukzessive ausgebaut.

At the invitation of our neighbours, we travelled with them in their car to a large shopping centre about 60 km away on the Polish bank of the Oder, opposite the German village of Hohenwutzen. As many prices in Poland are still significantly lower than in Germany, several such markets have established themselves along the border. Cigarettes and fuel, which are heavily taxed in Germany, are particularly cheap. We had last passed through Hohenwutzen in the late 1980s and looked across the river. On the other bank, an industrial ruin with open window cavities was prominently visible next to a makeshift bridge that was not open to the public. And that's why we became interested in seeing what it looked like there now. Today, this former ruin and its surroundings are home to the Hohenwutzen Polish Market, as it is called.
The Hohenwutzen Polish Market is located on the grounds and in the buildings of the former Niederwutzen pulp and paper mill, which was built between 1936 and 1938 by the Waldhof Group in what was then German territory. At that time, over 400 people are said to have been employed here in the production of pulp and paper. At that time, there was also a railway line here, but it was destroyed during the war, as was the Oder bridge. During a battle in early 1945 between an SS paratrooper unit and the Soviet army, the village was almost completely destroyed, while the factory and its buildings remained largely intact. Apart from the huge chimney of the combined heat and power plant, which was blown up in 1945, most of the buildings have been preserved. Thanks to their solid construction, the buildings withstood the heavy battle for Niederwutzen, even though the traces of bomb hits and shrapnel are still clearly visible today. After the end of the war, virtually all the equipment and machinery from the pulp and paper mill was dismantled and taken to the Soviet Union.
After lying dormant for many years, the site was given a new lease of life in 1992. Initially, it was used for the production of basketware, signs and small boats, but soon afterwards the first market stalls and a petrol station appeared. One of the largest markets on the German-Polish border steadily developed on the former factory site. Since 2018, extensive renovation and expansion measures have been taking place on the 50-hectare site. The former factory buildings are being gradually expanded.

Schamane in den Pfahlbauten in Unteruhldingen am Bodensee (ältestes archäologisches Freilichtmuseum Deutschlands mit einer Zeitreise über 10.000 Jahre Geschichte). Auf Stegen über dem Wasser gelangt man in die Siedlung aus der Stein- und Bronzezeit. Man glaubt(e), dass der Schamane während einer Sitzung Reisen unternimmt - auch wenn er „scheinbar” an dem Ort verbleibt - um die Geister aufzuspüren, welche das erkannte Übel verursachen. Mithilfe seines Schutzgeistes muss der Schamane versuchen die feindlichen Geister vom Aufgeben ihres Verhaltens zu überzeugen — sei es im Guten (z.B. Angebote) oder im Schlechten (z.B. einen Kampf beginnen). Bei seinen Unternehmungen muss der Schamane sich häufig in verschiedene Tiere verwandeln — in Vögel, um zu fliegen, in Raubtiere, um zu kämpfen etc.

One believes that the shaman, during a session, embarks on journeys - even if he "seemingly" remains in one place - to track down the spirits causing the recognized ailment. With the help of his protective spirit, the shaman must attempt to persuade the hostile spirits to give up their behavior - whether through kindness (e.g., offerings) or through hostility (e.g., initiating a battle). In his ventures, the shaman often has to transform into various animals - birds to fly, predators to fight, and so on.
