What is Thalassemia?
According to the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion (NIHBT), as of 2017, Vietnam had approximately 12 million Thalassemia gene carriers (15% of the population). More than 20,000 individuals require lifelong treatment, and around 8,000 children are born with the disease each year.
Early screening helps detect carriers before marriage or pregnancy, prevents transmission to future generations, and supports timely medical intervention. This test is essential for couples preparing for marriage, pregnant women, and individuals with a family history of blood disorders.

Jiena and her brother are fighting Fanconi Anemia together.
Jiena was born with two thumbs on her right hand and a hole in her heart, which healed on it's own. She has always been on the smaller side but that doesn't stop her from being super spunky! Also she has, as of 2011, declared herself a 'Vegetarian Tiger". To stay ahead of FA she receives blood work every three months and bone marrow biopsies every year. Even though she goes through all of this she never stops smiling!!

Los pobladores de Ñahuinpuquio, Chilcapata, Pilata y Callos del distrito de Chinchihuasi; y de San Miguel de Armas, Buenos Aires, Cuyoc, Cedro y Socos del distrito de Anco, ubicados en la provincia de Churcampa, Huancavelica, están ahora en mejores condiciones para combatir y reducir la anemia y desnutrición al haber logrado acceso permanente a agua saludable.
Esto fue posible porque los usuarios organizados en Núcleos Ejecutores se aliaron con el proyecto Agua Más de Foncodes, programa del Ministerio de Desarrollo e Inclusión Social, para recuperar la infraestructura (captación, reservorio, línea de conducción, red de tuberías) y los equipos (sistema de cloración, válvulas de control y de purga) de las plantas de agua en cada uno de estos centros poblados, todo lo cual ha permitido que dispongan del líquido vital en sus hogares.
La intervención incluyó módulos de capacitación y asistencia técnica a las Juntas Administradoras de Servicios de Saneamiento (JASS) para garantizar la operatividad y mantenimiento del servicio, de modo que pueda cumplir sus propósitos de manera sostenible.
El agua saludable también llega a las instituciones educativas y los puestos de salud de estos territorios. Este es el resultado de un trabajo articulado en la cual se involucraron los gobiernos municipales distritales.
En el distrito de Chinchihuasi se invirtieron 422 mil 863 soles, y en el distrito de Anco, 611 mil. En conjunto la inversión fue de más de 1 millón 034 mil soles, lo que permite que 514 hogares usuarios, es decir, alrededor de 2 mil 500 ciudadanos, dispongan de agua limpia y segura en sus viviendas.
Gustavo Torres Vásquez, director ejecutivo de Foncodes, inauguró las obras en un acto protocolar con autoridades locales y comuneros de Ñahuinpuquio. Junto a ellos participó el jefe de la Unidad Territorial Huancavelica, Luis Trucios Gómez, y autoridades comunales.

I've been working on my science fair all week,and I'm not even finished yet. It's due tomorrow.
It's about satuartion and shutter speeds. Pretty cool stuff. It's giving me the chance to learn more about photogaphy.
I got my results for my blood tests back, and I'm anemia free. But I have ow blood pressure, that I need to fix.
