Feeling somewhat crushed.

Breathe. Everything will be alright.

Cut through into quarters but only part way through. Pack with sea or Himalayan salt. Table salt is no good die to the anti caking agents added.

On the side of a disused bank. Probably too expensive to remove. But recently re-mortared by the look of it. This was where traders would deposit the cash takings for the day. Nowadays electronic transactions are making them less needed, I guess. But it's still a good plan to be able to get the cash off the premises. But where to now? Under the mattress?

Eastbourne Pier

Seen on a wall in Blackpool.

Fun facts: the butterfly has been chosen as an international symbol for people with ADHD. Many people in the UK criminal justice system have been identified as being affected by ADHD (attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) (whether they have been diagnosed formally or not). The waiting list for a diagnosis in England varies (according to which health trust you fall under) between 12 weeks and 10 years. One of the characteristics of ADHD is impulsive behavior.

Behind the coastguard station is this welcoming cafe, with an open air yard at the back. A great place to stop for coffee and cake after a long walk.

Decorated with his customary irony by Grayson Perry.

Impatiens glandulifera

a plant introduced to England by the Victorian plant hunters as a garden plant. It has now spread all over the country, especially along river banks. The seeds are under tension in the pods, and thus spread a long way, helping to spread this plant quickly.

As pretty as it is, it chokes out the native plants, which has an impact on native insects, and therefore birds. This balsam is interrupting the native food chain. And that's why transporting the seeds or the plant in England is an offense.

On the plus side, one can make an extract from the plant which is used to treat anxiety. And the young leave (quite bitter) and the flowers can be added to a salad.

This example comes from a community meadow that attempts to re-establish English meadow plants.

Today's moment of joy was seeing this alnus glutinosa making a framework in the sky.

This tree supports many insects, especially moths.

It was a lovely walk today.

This is the former YMCA building on China Street, Lancaster.

You can see somebody else's closeup of the lettering, here:

The building was derelict for a decade and then converted into student apartments.

The actual door and the way the ground floor windows are used are, IMHO, unimaginative and sub-par. There are holes in the lintel for a light - so why not fix one? Especially when those steps are so worn.

In the grounds of the old asylum is this forgotten reservoir. Thankfully fenced off from people. The wildlife just gets on with being wild. Through a chink in the fence this wonderful view brought me peace for a moment or two.

Come September i shall return to harvest sloes from these jaw thorn bushes. They flavor gin wonderfully and if there are enough i will make some jam, too.

The sounds of the birds, trolling and war bling overhead, was so beautiful. When there are no predators nearby they go into full throated singing mode.

A Victorian wall box. Graffiti applied while paint still fresh. A pity really. It's not even interesting.

Today I helped with the catering for a lady's 90th birthday tea. What a fabulous afternoon, full of laughter and smiles all around.

This posy was left on my counter top. What a gorgeous color is that rose!

My camera hasn't caught the real hue of this flower. I'd say IRL it is indigo.

List to Nina Simone explain it here:

The Grade II listed bulding was designed by Nobbs & Riley of the LCC's architectural department, in the 'arts and crafts' style of the time.

The London County Council ran from 1889 to 1965, when the Greater London Council was formed. There appears to be a backlog at the sign-making department.

You can see the shield of the LCC in the middle of the frame.

The 'engines' here are now 'appliances' (which sounds a bit medical to me). They are parked next door, before you go calling a tow truck to remove these cars.
