2008-2009 version of Reder's Workshop expectations. Kids helped me write these, and then I just rewrote them neatly on this chart. It stays up in our room all year long and I refer to it every once in a while. Especially that "expect to be called upon"

We created this chart to help us understand why meaning breaks down and how we can fix it.

The 5th graders were really anxious to see what books they would be reading for Lit. Circles. They had listed their top three choices out of the five books I presented. I was able to get most of them their first or second choice. This is KEY to Lit Circles. CHOICE is very motivating.

I researched and created this image a couple of years ago, so I can't remember my sources.

 

I wanted to explain why anchor charts are powerful instructional tools because they allow students to recall facts and procedures that might hinder them from actually demonstrating their learning.
