La Tomba di Humayun (in hindi हुमायूँ का मक़बरा, Urdu: ہمایون کا مقبره - Humayun ka Maqbara) è un complesso di edifici inerenti alla sepoltura dell'Imperatore moghul Humayun, commissionato dalla moglie dello stesso, Hamida Banu Begum nel 1562 d.C. e progettato dall'architetto persiano Mirak Mirza Ghiyath. Si tratta della prima tomba-giardino nel Subcontinente indiano, e si trova in India, a Delhi, nel quartiere di Nizamuddin East, vicina alla cittadella Dina-panah (nota anche come Purana Qila) fondata da Humayun nel 1533. Si tratta anche della prima struttura in arenaria rossa di simili dimensioni. Il complesso è stato dichiarato Patrimonio dell'umanità UNESCO nel 1993, e da questa data è oggetto di importanti lavori di restauro, tuttora in corso.
Il complesso include la tomba principale dell'Imperatore Humayun, che a sua volta ospita le tombe della moglie, Hamida Begum, di Dara Shikoh, figlio del successivo imperatore Shah Jahan, e di numerosi altri successori moghul, tra cui gli imperatori Jahandar Shah, Farrukhsiyar, Rafi Ul-Darjat, Rafi ud-Daulat e Alamgir II. Rappresenta certamente un enorme salto di qualità nella produzione architettonica moghul e, insieme al suo giardino in Chahar bagh - elemento tipico nei giardini persiani, ma ancora inedito all'epoca in India - si pose come una delle architetture di riferimento per la realizzazione di opere successive. Il mausoleo si pone inoltre in contrasto con la semplicità del complesso funerario del padre di Humayun - il primo Imperatore moghul Babur - ospitata nei giardini detti Bagh-e Babur a Kabul, in Afghanistan. Ciononostante a Babur va riconosciuto il fatto di essere stato il primo imperatore a venir seppellito in un giardino del paradiso. Basata sul modello del Gur-e Amir di Samarcanda, la tomba dell'avo Timur conquistatore dell'Asia, la Tomba di Humayun creò un precedente di riferimento per i successivi mausolei imperiali moghul, il cui picco artistico e creativo è rappresentato dal Taj Mahal di Agra.

Humayun's tomb (Hindi: हुमायूँ का मक़बरा, Urdu: ہمایون کا مقبره Humayun ka Maqbara) is the tomb of the Mughal Emperor Humayun. The tomb was commissioned by Humayun's wife Hamida Banu Begum in 1562 CE, and designed by Mirak Mirza Ghiyath, a Persian architect. It was the first garden-tomb on the Indian subcontinent, and is located in Nizamuddin East, Delhi, India, close to the Dina-panah citadel also known as Purana Qila, that Humayun founded in 1533. It was also the first structure to use red sandstone at such a scale. The tomb was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993, and since then has undergone extensive restoration work, which is still underway. Besides the main tomb enclosure of Humayun, several smaller monuments dot the pathway leading up to it, from the main entrance in the West, including one that even pre-dates the main tomb itself, by twenty years; it is the tomb complex of Isa Khan Niyazi, an Afghan noble in Sher Shah Suri's court of the Suri dynasty, who fought against the Mughals, constructed in 1547 CE.
The complex encompasses the main tomb of the Emperor Humayun, which houses the graves of his wife, Hamida Begum, and also Dara Shikoh, son of the later Emperor Shah Jahan, as well as numerous other subsequent Mughals, including Emperor Jahandar Shah, Farrukhsiyar, Rafi Ul-Darjat, Rafi Ud-Daulat and Alamgir II. It represented a leap in Mughal architecture, and together with its accomplished Charbagh garden, typical of Persian gardens, but never seen before in India, it set a precedent for subsequent Mughal architecture. It is seen as a clear departure from the fairly modest mausoleum of his father, the first Mughal Emperor, Babur, called Bagh-e Babur (Gardens of Babur) in Kabul (Afghanistan). Though the latter was the first Emperor to start the tradition of being buried in a paradise garden. Modelled on Gur-e Amir, the tomb of his ancestor and Asia's conqueror Timur in Samarkand, it created a precedent for future Mughal architecture of royal mausolea, which reached its zenith with the Taj Mahal, at Agra.
The site was chosen on the banks of Yamuna river, due to its proximity to Nizamuddin Dargah, the mausoleum of the celebrated Sufi saint of Delhi, Nizamuddin Auliya, who was much revered by the rulers of Delhi, and whose residence, Chilla Nizamuddin Auliya lies just north-east of the tomb. In later Mughal history, the last Mughal Emperor, Bahadur Shah Zafar took refuge here, during the Indian Rebellion of 1857, along with three princes, and was captured by Captain Hodson before being exiled to Rangoon. At the time of the Slave Dynasty this land was under the 'KiloKheri Fort' which was capital of Sultan Kequbad, son of Nasiruddin (1268–1287).

Mausoleum of Sultan Qutb-ud-Din Aibak, located at Aibak Road, Inside Anarkali, Lahore, PAKISTAN.

Born to a Central Asia Turk family, Qutb-ud-din Aibak was captured and sold as a slave when he was a child. He was lucky to be purchased by the chief Qazi of Nishapur, who treated him like one of his own sons. Aibak received good education and was trained in the field of archery and horsemanship. However, when the master died, his sons, who were jealous of Aibak, sold him to a slave merchant. Fortune once again favored him and Muhammad Ghuri bought him.
Out of Ghuri's thousands of slaves, Aibak, because of his character and qualities, became one of his master's favorite. Aibak steadily rose through the ranks and eventually became a General. Like his owner Ghuri, Aibak performed his greatest deeds while still a subordinate. He was responsible for most of the conquests of Northern India and was appointed as Ghuri's Viceroy to Delhi. When Ghuri died in 1206, the Turkish Amirs and Generals elected Aibak as the new Sultan. It was he who shifted the capital first from Ghazni to Lahore, and then from Lahore to Delhi, and thus is considered as the first Muslim ruler of South Asia.
Aibak could not rule for long and died in 1210 after falling from a horse while playing polo. He is buried near the Anarkali Bazaar in Lahore, where a new tomb was constructed over his grave around 1970. Though his tenure as a ruler was only four years, and most of them were spend in dealing with the revolts of nobles like Taj-ud-din Ildiz, Nasir-ud-din Qubachah and a few Hindu chiefs, yet he established a firm administrative system. He restored peace and prosperity in the area under him and roads were free from thieves and robbers. He started the construction of Quwaat-al-Islam Mosque at Delhi. He also laid the foundation of the Qutb Minar, which was completed by his successor Iltutmush. Aibak was known as Lakh Baksh because of his generosity. He was also a pious Muslim. Historians have praised his evenhanded justice. He patronized Nizami and Fakh-i-Mudabbir, both of whom dedicated their works to Aibak.

Jharoka of Bansi Mandir Haveli. This exquisite temple is located in Anarkali bazaar very close to the tomb of Qutb-ud-Din Aibak. As with most Hindu buildings in Lahore, there is a paucity
of information about this building. It is a privately owned building and at my visit to the site, I was able to meet the owner but unfortunately he did not know any historical information about the building either. It was somewhat unique that the building being of Hindu origin, in the predominantly Muslim country of Pakistan, is owned by a person who told me that he is a Pakistani Jew.
The mandir itself is located within the courtyard of a massive haveli. At present, portions are rented out to
various tenants and even the main building of the mandir is used as a home by one of the number of families here. This building would have been built during the colonial period by a prosperous family wanting to expand out of the congested walled city. Kanhaiya Lal and Latif don't mention it in their descriptions of Anarkali so it must have been built or completed after the 1890s. The façade is a long one and lines the Anarkali bazaar. The decorative features on the main façade are broadly European but the central section has a traditional arch framed by pillars and contains an elaborate jharoka above the entrance. The wooden jharoka or balcony with its fine woodwork is still in good state of preservation. The stairs lead up to the courtyard, in the center of which is located the fine temple with plaster mouldings. The owner informed me that parts of the building were damaged by an angry mob in the riots following the destruction of Babri Mosque in India.

It is said that Sharf-un-Nisa or Nadira Begam, who was belonging to Kings Palace with the title of Anarkali (pomegranate blossom), was noticed giving a return smile to the Prince Salim. The Emperor Akbar took it as an illicit relationship with his son and ordered Anarkali to be interred alive. Accordingly, she was buried alive in a masonry wall, brick by brick.
The Prince Salim who was called King Jahangir on succeeding the throne in 1605A.D. had an immense superstructure raised over her sepulchre, 16 years after her death.
This love legendary mausoleum, one of the most significant Mughal buildings of the period is a part of the compound of Punjab Secretariat on Lower Mall, Lahore and is being utilized as the Punjab Archives.

The project proposed aims at creating protective environment for children, with emphasis on rights to education and protection in the three districts in Uttar Pradesh- notably Jaunpur, Mirzapur and Sonbhadra. .
