Former SP Bay Area commuter service GP40P-2 1375 works a different commute this morning rolling down Santa Ana Street with local job LOA32.
UP LOA31R (the Marlboro local) passes the wigwag signal protecting the crossing at Lemon and Santa Ana Streets in Anaheim, CA. This local will traverse two different sections of street trackage here in Anaheim, first on Santa Ana Street and then on Olive Street.
Former Cotton Belt GP40-2 No. 1400 (ex-SSW 7645) rolls slowly along Olive Street heading back with a dozen or so cars after a morning of switching.
Former SSW GP60 1083 and an ex-SP Bay Area commuter GP40P-2 roll local job LOA32 slowly along the neighborhood of S. Olive Street on a Tuesday morning.
UP GP60 1083 makes like the Norfolk Southern of the west as it rolls long hood forward through the historic district of Anaheim with the Costa Mesa Local.
May 30, 2024, found UP 1375 leading local job LOA32 through the residential neighborhoods of Anaheim on its way to a day of switching.

Had time to kill while waiting for the UC Davis men's basketball team to play for the Big West championship last March. So I went across the street from the Honda Center to check out what this light show was all about. Definitely the nicest depot I've ever been in. Shot handheld so it's not perfectly symmetrical.
Googie architecture originated in Southern California. It is inspired by 1900's vision of what future architecture would look like. Googie architecture was the new, and the booming Anaheim, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas opened new opportunities for developers and architects alike to build cities inspired by UFO-shapes. However, much of the googie architecture are already replaced or demolished.

A type of chile pepper that is about a 6" in length, is green in color, and has a mild to medium-hot flavor.When the chile is dried, it turns a dark burgundy color. It is sometimes referred to as the New Mexico chile, but the actual New Mexico chiles are a bit hotter. At some point in the late 80s or early 90s someone (I forget who now) told me about a small band of elves who lived alongside humans near Anaheim. They all looked human enough, the main differentiator being their silver eyes and auburn hair. It seemed like a family of brothers and sisters but they all worked as mechanics for race tracks or raced cars themselves. Everyone thought they were human.
This is a re-upload of an earlier drawing. For some reason the earlier drawing doesn't post to outside websites. So I am putting this here for those times I might use it.
I was up in my hotel room at the Disneyland resort, taking photos from the room. While I thought there was only show in play for the night, I was surprised to see another set of fireworks go off in the distance. I thought the multiple shows made for an interesting shot.
In addition, I really enjoying having been able to capture some of the attractions int he resort including Tower of Terror, Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, and Splash Mountain
- www.kevin-palmer.com - Just after Christmas Southern California got some long overdue rain. I went to a nearby overlook to watch one of the stronger storms. Eventually this rainbow formed but not all the way.
I promised someone some shots of my chile garden. This is a young Anaheim chile, about 5 inches (12 - 13 cm) long. It should almost double in size before harvest (if it doesn't get stunted by the heat coming up). I will have a couple more to post tomorrow or Friday.
