One of dozens of impressive Chugach peaks along Alaska's Glenn Highway.

I strive to identify the peaks I see on my trips. Rarely are there any markers when I drive by. I study maps and google nearby landmarks. I generally can come up with the name.

Very challenging in BC, Alberta and Alaska as there are just so many of them (a good thing). Was unable to ID this majestic peak (yet). If anyone knows please let me know.

Some pics of more Chugach peaks in comments.

Thanks for taking a peak peek!

some things just sit at the right spot, you know?

The full name of this orchid is (Neopabstopetalum Jimmy Lyttle x Zygopetalum Kiwi Choice) "Aztec Amulet" Quite a mouthful .... but amazingly beautiful orchid with excellent perfume as well.

This was built for a collaborative story between me and several other builders in the Lego fantasy rpg Guilds of Historica. I've been wanting to build something based in the sunken city for for a long time, so it was great to finally get the opportunity! It was a lot of fun experimenting with the geometry on the elven structure, and the colors were also really fun to work with! I also tried something new for the rockwork, trying to incorporate as many rounded slopes as possible as opposed to angular slopes, which turned out nicely imo.

You can see my part of the story here: www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/188089-s...

Should tolerancu be intolerant against intolerance to protect itself? (渡辺一夫 1901~75)

Wikipedia: A Thai Buddha amulet (Thai: พระเครื่อง), often referred to academically as "votive tablet", is a kind of Thai Buddhist blessed item. It is used to raise funds to help the temple producing the amulets. Worshippers can obtain an amulet or Thai Buddhist monk blessing by simply donating money or offering oil to the temple. After the donation, the monk will give them an amulet as a gift. The amulets no longer simply are considered a "gift", but a tool to help enhance luck in different aspects of life. People use amulets to improve their marriage, wealth, health, love and relationships.

It is a Thai tradition to place amulets under a stupa or other temple structure when it is built. When the structure collapses, many amulets may be found. Some can be over a century old.

A stunning first flowering of this orchid seedling, which is a complex hybrid of species originating from South America. It's parentage is Neopabstopetalum Jimmy Lyttle x Zygopetalum Kiwi Choice. The genus included in Neopabstopetalum

are Neogardneria x Pabstia x Zygopetalum. Wow things can get complicated with orchid names.

And if you’re wondering about the special-effected picture, it’s not Photoshop-ed. I don’t even have Photoshop; I use The Gimp. Even if I had Photoshop (or had known how to best make use of The Gimp), I would not have been able to achieve something like this. No, what I did was place The Amulet of Samarkand on the carpet (the book, not the amulet. Sometimes, human beings ARE so dense.), set the camera at the maximum exposure, and then pull the camera away (or towards, I’m not quite sure which, I was doing quite a bit of acrobatics) as I clicked. And, voila. *takes a bow*
