One of dozens of impressive Chugach peaks along Alaska's Glenn Highway.

I strive to identify the peaks I see on my trips. Rarely are there any markers when I drive by. I study maps and google nearby landmarks. I generally can come up with the name.

Very challenging in BC, Alberta and Alaska as there are just so many of them (a good thing). Was unable to ID this majestic peak (yet). If anyone knows please let me know.

Some pics of more Chugach peaks in comments.

Thanks for taking a peak peek!

This was built for a collaborative story between me and several other builders in the Lego fantasy rpg Guilds of Historica. I've been wanting to build something based in the sunken city for for a long time, so it was great to finally get the opportunity! It was a lot of fun experimenting with the geometry on the elven structure, and the colors were also really fun to work with! I also tried something new for the rockwork, trying to incorporate as many rounded slopes as possible as opposed to angular slopes, which turned out nicely imo.

You can see my part of the story here: www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/188089-s...

You can see the rest of the builds and read the entire story here: www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/188074-t...

This is the Lady Chapel at Lichfield Cathedral, in Staffordshire, England. It's a magnificent gothic cathedral built between 1195 and 1340 - the only medieval English cathedral with three spires.

Dedicated to St Chad and Saint Mary, its internal length is 113 m (371 ft), and the breadth of the nave is 21 m (69 ft). The central spire is 77 m (253 ft) high and the western spires are about 58 m (190 ft).

The stone is sandstone and came from a quarry on the south side of Lichfield. The walls of the nave lean outwards slightly, due to the weight of stone used in the ceiling vaulting; some 200–300 tons of which was removed during renovation work to prevent the walls leaning further.

Lichfield suffered severe damage during the English Civil War of 1642–1651, in which all of the stained glass was destroyed. In spite of this, the windows of the Lady Chapel (shown in this photo) contain some of the finest medieval Flemish painted glass in existence. Dating from the 1530s, it came from the Abbey of Herkenrode in Belgium, in 1801, having been purchased by Brooke Boothby when that abbey was dissolved during the Napoleonic Wars.

In February 2003, an eighth-century sculpted panel of the Archangel Gabriel was discovered under the nave of the cathedral. The 600mm tall panel is carved from limestone, and originally was part of a stone chest, which is thought to have contained the relics of St Chad. The panel was broken into three parts but was still otherwise intact and had traces of red pigment from the period. The pigments on the Lichfield Angel correspond closely to those of the Lichfield Gospels which have been dated to around 730AD. The Angel was first unveiled to the public in 2006, when visitor numbers to the cathedral trebled. After being taken to Birmingham for eighteen months for examination, it is now exhibited in the cathedral.

This photo was created by taking 9 shots with a fisheye lens and stitching them together to form a 188MP image that covers the entire 360˚ view, from floor to ceiling. The tripod is removed by taking two 'straight down' shots from slightly different positions, using a dedicated spherical panoramic head that can offset the camera position away from the central axis of the tripod. Each frame was taken with 5 exposures to capture the full dynamic range from the bright windows to the dark corners (so 45 shots in total). The spherical panorama was transformed to the 2D rectangle you see here using transverse Mercator projection. This version is cropped so it doesn't quite include the full 360˚.

Should tolerancu be intolerant against intolerance to protect itself? (渡辺一夫 1901~75)

A stunning first flowering of this orchid seedling, which is a complex hybrid of species originating from South America. It's parentage is Neopabstopetalum Jimmy Lyttle x Zygopetalum Kiwi Choice. The genus included in Neopabstopetalum

are Neogardneria x Pabstia x Zygopetalum. Wow things can get complicated with orchid names.

Wikipedia: A Thai Buddha amulet (Thai: พระเครื่อง), often referred to academically as "votive tablet", is a kind of Thai Buddhist blessed item. It is used to raise funds to help the temple producing the amulets. Worshippers can obtain an amulet or Thai Buddhist monk blessing by simply donating money or offering oil to the temple. After the donation, the monk will give them an amulet as a gift. The amulets no longer simply are considered a "gift", but a tool to help enhance luck in different aspects of life. People use amulets to improve their marriage, wealth, health, love and relationships.

It is a Thai tradition to place amulets under a stupa or other temple structure when it is built. When the structure collapses, many amulets may be found. Some can be over a century old.

teru bōzu (teru = shiny; bozu = buddhist priest) is a little traditional hand-made doll made of cloth that japanese farmers began hanging outside of their window by a string. this amulet is supposed to have magical powers to bring good weather and to stop or prevent a rainy day.

♥ wasabi e salsa teryaki.

I do love seeing these, they're very common in Ukraine

And if you’re wondering about the special-effected picture, it’s not Photoshop-ed. I don’t even have Photoshop; I use The Gimp. Even if I had Photoshop (or had known how to best make use of The Gimp), I would not have been able to achieve something like this. No, what I did was place The Amulet of Samarkand on the carpet (the book, not the amulet. Sometimes, human beings ARE so dense.), set the camera at the maximum exposure, and then pull the camera away (or towards, I’m not quite sure which, I was doing quite a bit of acrobatics) as I clicked. And, voila. *takes a bow*

A very interesting amulet made by Alchemy including a hammer of Thor, a Christian cross and a sword.

Like wind on the plains, sand through the glass

Waves rolling in with the tide

Dreams die hard and we watch them erode

But we cannot be denied

The fire inside
