It was a frigid, blustery winter's day in February 1994 when I took this shot of an Amtrak commuter train from New Haven to Hartford, Connecticut. Shot with the Canon Elan SLR. This is a scanned shot from film.

It's not the Olympian but it definitely gave the experience only dreamed could happen.

Private car Chapel Hill brings up the rear

Continuing with more E units. When Amtrak started and PC was allowed to discontinue the daytime westbound #53, the only time we could see any passenger action across the Pennsy in daytime was if the Broadway Limited was later enough to show up after sunrise. Such was the case on this sunny day in April 1978 when the Broadway was late enough to get some sun on the curves descending Big Run Hill between Orrville and Wooster near Geyers Chapel Rd.

With the context that this Empire Builder detoured from Seattle to Spokane via Portland, they're doing pretty solid schedule wise into Havre at only about 3 hours down. The Milk River wanders north of the tracks through Havre and this was fun spot to see it.

This is taken from behind a run down strip mall on the hill in town and you'd never know this view was there from the highway.

Passing possibly the most-photographed signals in New Mexico, Amtrak’s eastbound Southwest Limited storms through Levy, New Mexico.

Amtrak's southbound Vermonter passes some peak foliage near Macktown Rd. in Windsor, CT. Because of a drought which lasted all summer the foliage was predicted to be a "brownout", but it is nice to see the predictions were wrong.

Close to the same spot as the gas train posted.

The North Coast Hiawatha has just topped the hill with private car Mountain View trailing.

Furthest west I ever went with Amtrak. It was mainly to get this car.
