Highway 1, the Pacific Coast Highway is the road of the American Dream, a U.S. route that offers beautiful views of the coast along the 620-mile road. Started in San Francisco and headed down to Los Angeles, riding along the Pacific Coast, stopped at Big Sur, the most fascinating section of the coast.

If I could re-visit Highway 1, I would stay at least 2 nights at Big Sur. Jagged cliffs pummeled by surf line the Pacific Coast Highway along Big Sur, creating some of California's most memorable ocean vistas. The land is splashed by the impetuous waves of the ocean, circumscribed by curved and narrow roads that wind along the edge of the sheer mountains. Pfeiffer Beach is quintessential at Big Sur. McWay Falls is breathtaking…

Here is Bixby Bridge, great looking bridge with beautiful views from the viewpoint. This iconic single span concrete bridge built during 1940s is seen in many movies and commercials. Stopped at both ends for views and took photos. This was a bit different view from iconic viewpoint.

Enjoy your weekend my dear Flickr friends! :))

Are we part of the story

Of wealth and of glory?

It ain't necessarily so.

Our workforce and our entire economy are strongest when we embrace diversity to its fullest, and that means opening doors of opportunity to everyone and recognizing that the American Dream excludes no one.

My Canon EOS 5D Mk IV with the Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM lens.

Processed in Adobe Lightroom.

I have borrowed this description from an older photo that I posted which sums up this photo.

This is one of the many areas across the US that President Trump spoke to that was once a prosperous town where people could realize the American dream. Today, abandoned factories span city blocks and even miles and have left a population of poverty in its path. Like so many of these areas, it is not a safe place to photograph as a female with valuable photography equipment. People in the US judge harshly and state people in these areas are broken some how because so many turn to drugs and crime. I have a different perspective and I feel what options are people in areas like this given when all of the jobs have gone overseas? There is not much hope for a job when they are miles away and owning a car is something many can not entertain. People that live with little hope turn to drugs, theft and other crimes only out of desperation. If the jobs were returned to this area poverty & crime would all but disappear.

Taken from Secaucus New Jersey across the Hackensack River is the American Dream Mall in East Rutherford New Jersey which opened in late 2019. First envisioned and proposed in 1996, Xanadu as it was first know when it broke ground in 2004 with the Mills Corporation who won the bidding proposal with the NJSEA in 2003. Fast forward to 2006, Mills is under SEC scrutiny, Colony Capital takes over construction continues. Meanwhile in 2007 NJSEA breaks ground in the parking lot around Giants Stadium across Route 120 on a new stadium that today is MetLife Stadium. Stadium opened in 2009 Xanadu construction which was already on the highway signage on Route 3 was stalled. Four years passed in the interim in 2011 a few large snow storms in the northeast and a portion of the roof collapsed. Finally that year enter Triple Five Group, the Ghermezian Family who were the one behind Minnesota’s Mall of American made a bid to take over project. Court protests by the New York Giants and Jets football team the other tenants of the Meadowlands and boom the American Dream opens late 2019, 10 years after the stadium and 15 years in the making.

I don't normally wade in politics and I'm not going to here either. I have my own opinions on the issue(s) and will express them when appropriate but don't believe Flickr is that forum.

I thought this was an interesting photo. I imagine that what you take from it will largely depend on what position you start from.

Some made the long drop from the apartment or the office window; some took it quietly in two-car garages with the motor running; some used the native tradition of the Colt or Smith and Wesson; those well-constructed implements that end insomnia, terminate remorse, cure cancer, avoid bankruptcy, and blast an exit from intolerable positions by the pressure of a finger; those admirable American instruments so easily carried, so sure of effect, so well designed to end the American dream when it becomes a nightmare, their only drawback the mess they leave for relatives to clean up. -
