Hey meninas!

Erika Palomino

May 9, 2008

09.05.2008 (J.P.)

Why does this child mannequin have nipples and six pack abs?

That's just wrong American Apparel, but of course right behind it was a picture of Michael Jackson with a young boy...so I guess it fits : -)

This photo brought to you by: The Rotary Phone.

Its been non-stop shooting for the past week or so, this was a reshoot of something that didnt work before. Different model, different stylist, same killer make-up lady. Its a change up for me I think y'all may hate it but I have slowly come round to liking this one a lot. A lot...... Its odd how it can often take a week until you know you have the image you need, sometimes you have to look at it every day, sometimes just ignore it and go back to it later. Some images need time to mature I guess. (oh and sally here turned 22 yesterday- I will post her birthday polaroid pic sometime soon).

Shot at the dope than dope Garage Studios where I will be shooting most of the time.

this one and the shot before it, the polaroid, where heavily inspired by www.flickr.com/photos/elaisted/ who is a stone cold killer photographer of strong ladies..... go see.....NOW.

Having naturally curly hair is only awesome when you have time to keep it under control.

Size does matter.

is it obvious i just now learned to play with curves in photoshop? explore!

Jill and I in an American Apparel dressing room, looking for some last minute pieces to wear to the SPANDEX PARTY we attended later that night.

Oh and by the way, JILL IS IN TOWN! (and yes, pun most definitely intended in the title.)

It's too short, huh? I'm a freakin' adult. It's not Halloween!

Pretend I'm wearing way more opaque tights. THEN is it okay? It rides the hell up when I sit down. No photos of that because that's just obscene.

HELP! Does this go back to the store!?

I'm wildly uncomfortable and I'm alone in my room.

Also, pretend that my mirror doesn't have handprints all over it and that I don't have 8 pairs of shoes in the background. Oh, and please ignore that my gym gear is sitting in the corner of my room instead of oh, I dunno, AT THE GYM.

Outside room 232, San Luis Obispo, early morning stretch and shakedown.

I realised the other day why I use so much studio lighting nowadays, and off camera flash when shooting outside, its cos I kinda hate my digital camera. Dont get me wrong, I couldnt work without it, couldnt shoot for magazines, couldnt shoot fashion, and couldnt have taught myself studio lighting without some kinda bankruptcy happenin' but theres that nagging part of my brain that tells me its not a real picture- I havent made anything. This negative here, is sat in a sleeve on my desk, it may be a bitch to clean up, remove the dust spots from the scan and try and match those colours, but i can see it, hold it and remember it. The slap and thunk of the mirror as I shot it, the slight morning haze, that somehow I'd white balance out on my Canon. I can still 'feel' this shot, it doesnt have file number, or metadata, you cant tell where i shot it unless i title it.........Plus i shot about 12-13 frames that day and I love them all.....Heres one from ten minutes after ........Portra NC Bronica Etrsi 40mm

I am probably giving out some free pictures soon, real prints, if they come back alright so check the blog soon....maybe by the weekend.....

this is sally again but Sallys here

Do you think he looks gay enough here?

(His girlfriend is cute, too)

I'm swamped. School is overwhelming, work is crazy, and I've got some major spring cleaning to take care of.
