AMD (age-related macular degeneration) is the most common cause of registered blindness in Ireland and is thought to affect one in ten people over 50. Throughout AMD Awareness Week, free testing will be available to detect the early signs of AMD at a range of opticians, eye doctors, public libraries, golf clubs and other locations nationwide. Les pilotes peuvent perdre plusieurs litres d'eau par les efforts intenses en combat aérien. Les efforts peuvent atteindre jusqu'à 9G (9 fois le poids du corps du pilote). Inutile de dire qu'un entraînement sévère est indispensable pour subir de telles pressions.

Ohio Valley Mushroom Farm Site in North Lima, Ohio
Eastern Ohio is home to over 1,000 abandoned underground mines (AUM), mostly from coal production, which began more than 200 years ago. The Mushroom Farm site, located in North Lima, Ohio is plagued with acid mine drainage (AMD) resulting from surface mining conducted in the 1980's and an AUM from the late 1800's.

AMD's newer stock heatsink for many of their processors. It is smaller than old stock coolers that came with the single core AMD athlon 64's but it is able to cool slightly better because the fins are located around a central shaft which means a better path for heat to leave the CPU and enter the fins. the sad part is they end to use these even on some quad core processors and there not 100% up to the job.
PS the center shaft is only a few mm high but since theres no full base on the bottom, the fins can extend down further. and since there more fins, cooling is improved, but is can still be inadequate for CPU's that use more than 65 watts
SUWON AIR BASE – The 6-52nd Air Missile Defense Battalion hosted units from Republic of Korea Air Force, ROK Army, ROKA Special Warfare Training Group and U.S. Marines, here, March 20 during a Combined Forces Party celebrating the culmination Operation Key Resolve.
Throughout the day’s events, the Soldiers were afforded the opportunity to form bonds with the other units by competing in various sporting events. The winning unit for each event was awarded an Iron Horse trophy. The 510th ROK Air Defense Artillery defeated 10th Fighter Wing in a dramatic penalty shootout to claim the soccer trophy, while SWTG triumphed on the volleyball court and 6-52nd AMD reigned victorious on the basketball court.
In addition to the sporting events, Better Opportunity for Single Soldiers representatives, along with Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation, organized festivities for the day. 6-52nd AMD’s Dining Facility served barbecue ribs and burgers during the middle of the day.

A medicina avança e traz esperança para quem tem diabetes tipo 2. Cientistas
desenvolveram um aparelho que estimula o aumento de insulina pelo pâncreas,
controlando assim a doença.
A nova técnica foi apresentada nesta quinta-feira, em São Paulo, para
especialistas da América Latina.
Emílio Ramalho de Abreu emagreceu dez quilos. O colesterol voltou ao normal.
E o mais importante: a taxa de glicemia -que indicava que ele era um
diabético - voltou à normalidade. "Na época, eu estava com uma glicemia um
pouco alta, uma obesidade abdominal", lembra o universitário.
Ele não tomou remédios, nem parou de comer massa e açúcar; simplesmente se
submeteu ao procedimento médico que durou 30 minutos. Através de uma
endoscopia, foi colocado no duodeno dele um tubo de plástico de 60 cm
fazendo uma ligação direta entre o final do estômago e o meio do intestino
delgado.
Os especialistas descobriram que o mais importante é evitar o contato do
alimento com o início do intestino delgado. O alimento sai do estômago e
entra no tubo, na primeira parte do intestino delgado. Então, ele está
dentro do tubo; ou seja, não há contato; mais rapidamente ele chega à parte
final do intestino e isso tem um efeito positivo na produção de insulina no
pâncreas, afirma o gastroenterologista Almino Cardoso Ramos.
Repórter: Sempre se pensou que era o pâncreas unicamente o responsável pelo
diabetes. Não é bem assim?
Dr. Almino: Não é bem assim. São teorias novas, mas são teorias muito
consistentes, que estão embasadas em estudos feitos em animais. Agora nós
chegamos ao uso do produto no homem.
O método está sendo apresentado num simpósio internacional com uma
endoscopia transmitida ao vivo do Chile. O método foi desenvolvido nos EUA
com experiências em animais, oito anos atrás. E a equipe do doutor Almino
Ramos fez as primeiras experiências em humanos no Brasil. Ele coordenou os
100 procedimentos feitos até agora no Brasil, Chile, Holanda e EUA.
Os resultados são que 80% aonde colocamos o dispositivo têm uma melhora
total do diabetes. Total. Não precisa nem tomar remédio e nem fazer regime;
eles têm uma vida normal depois de colocar o dispositivo, garante o
gastroenterologista.
Este método funciona apenas para pacientes com diabetes tipo dois, o
diabetes adquirido. Ele ainda não está disponível no mercado, por enquanto,
mas os médicos estão selecionando 20 pacientes do Hospital das Clínicas, em
São Paulo, que vão receber esse tratamento nos próximos meses.
Os médicos acreditam que até o fim do ano a nova técnica estará no mercado.
