At yet another birthday party with the kids this past weekend, at Quassy amusement park located on Lake Quassapaug. The kiddie park area, where I inevitably spend most of my time, is separated from the water by only a fence. So of course, with the sun setting, my attention is being torn by this lovely sunset glittering on the water...and like usual, I feel like I'm the only one noticing the beauty.
I took some shots, but this time for kicks, I tried a few shots in sunset mode, which is something I very rarely use because I don't like the result. It seems to take away the colors and adds an almost sepia tone...maybe because it's an older camera, I don't know. But I actually like the result here, giving everything an amber glow...reminding me of tiger-eye contrasting with the dark areas.
Have a wonderful day, my friends :-)

…There are no moments you have frozen in amber. It’s moving, it’s changing, so appreciate what’s good about right now and be ready for what’s next….. ~Michael J Fox
A detail from the waterfall above. Trying to catch the sense of movement and the rich colours after the heavy rain in the Peak District. The dark tannins in the water gave it an amber richness.

IUCN Red List Assessment (2014): Least Concern
The most attractive thing about our cat is his amber eyes. But the whole face is very cute, and the white socks on the paws and the white triangular bib are also charming. It’s very difficult to say what I like most about him - he is overall a completely perfect creation of nature!
Thank you all for visits, favs and comments, it's greatly appreciated!
“The air is charged with a palpable energy, as if the very universe is alive and pulsing with the rhythm of creation. This is a moment of pure beauty, of unbridled potential, and of boundless opportunity. It is a reminder that each new day brings with it the chance for renewal and transformation, and that the path to greatness begins with a single step into the light.” - Paulo Coelho

20 - 50 - 100 million years old, amber entraps the insects, flora, dirt, air, etc., which have been trapped inside and preserves it so that we may see what life was like so so long ago.
Such is also the case for photography. Future generations (10 million years from now) will be able to look through images taken today and reconstruct what it was like in our times.
I took a single shot to honour Worldwide Photo Day... Hamilton Street, downtown Vancouver. August 19, 2016.
We found these small amber pebbles on the beaches of Denmark. It's the result of meticulously searching the beaches at almost all our holidays at the Danish beaches.
Not every pebble you see here was found on the beaches of Denmark. Some of them were 'found' at JyllandsAkvariet, Jutland's aquarium museum in Thyborøn.
Shot with the SMC Pentax- 50mm f/1.7 and 47mm extension tubes.
For: Looking close.. on Friday!

Another sunrise from the archives. Oconaluftee Overlook in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The summer heat is keeping me from doing much more than getting on the boat and in the water so all I have to post is "old" stuff.
Wanted to name this photo "Amber Alert" and while apropos, seemed somehow inappropriate.
