Not sure if this is because Seattle's home to Amazon or many American cities have these. As an apartment-resident I definitely think Canada can use more delivery options.
Amazon is building a 3 bubble biosphere in Seattle. They are going to be impressive structures although they are much smaller than Biosphere 2 which I visited the previous week.

The Amazons were the race of warrior women who engaged the Greeks in battle a number of times. They came to the aid of King Priam in the Trojan War, but before that there was the episode of Herakles fighting them to obtain the girdle of their queen Hippolyte, which Carpenter describes. Theseus fought the Amazons after they invaded Attica. He then abducted the Amazon queen Antiope and married her. Carpenter tells of some of the places where the Athenians battle with the Amazons was depicted including the shield of the Athena Parthenos. The Amazons were to have lived somewhere in the far north near the Black Sea and though the Greek attitude toward them is generally one of contempt and derision (as well as victorious over them in battle), there were several cities which had cults to the Amazons in historical times such as Delphi and Athens. The Amazons and the Centaurs were both considered barbarians, unlike the civilized Greeks, and are thematically linked as representing the Persians in several places in representation like the Parthenon, the Temple of Apollo at Bassae and the paintings of the Theseion mentioned above. Here we see a rather sympathetic and sensitive depiction of an Amazon that has been wounded. This work here is from the Met in New York and is believed to be a Roman copy of an original bronze. At some point the Amazons began to be depicted much like Artemis, in a short dress, pulled up for freedom of movement. Look up this statue on the Met's website and read the description there.

Amazon clearly has my number. These are its best recommendations for me. Not one, but two kinds of rechargeable batteries. You know, because I live on the wild side. Lucky no Ensure, adult diapers, or "special supplements" recommended. Yet.

Amazon's Boeing 767-300 headed into Ontario, CA. This was a "what are the odds" shot from our daughter's back yard and now I've seen & photographed this plane on two consecutive trips to California and both from our daughter's yard.

Amazon are adding UPC (barcodes) to their newspaper print ads. It briefly seems retrograde (why not a QR code) until you consider the main use-cases for Amazon's app.
After my trust Windows Home Server (of 4 years) died I decided it was time to build a new one from the ground up. I love WHS, it's such a great product for keeping home PC's backed up and centralizing file storage. It's a shame Microsoft doesn't market this product more than they do.
This is not the most glamorous photograph of me, but I was willing to trade vanity for the story, and this was a moment of victory. I'd tackled and been tackled in a mud fest for this paw paw and despite being a beginner at this games "Brincadeiras" (Portuguese for games), also never having played a game of rugby in my life, I was up for getting amongst it.
I'd been in the Amazon of Brazil, staying with a tribe, the Katukina or the Nokê Koí as they call themselves, doing some filming with them. I'd watched a few of their games and this was a favourite, so I thought it was high time I came out from behind the camera and got involved, down and dirty.
It's Ladies Vs Fellas and I had a height advantage of about three feet on these guys though so I guess you could call it a little unfair, but by no means was it an easy win.
When that slippery little paw paw is clamped tightly under a huddle of girls keeping it from the fellas, it's impossible for them to pry it out, they need to resort to 'slap and tickle' tactics. When it's in the hands of the fellas, it is being tossed overhead between them like a 'Piggy In The Middle' game.
If the 'ball' breaks another is thrown in and the play continues (until someone gets hurt).
There is no real winner, it's more just to have a good laugh and squeal. When it's over, we all traipse off to the creek for a wash.
