Somewhere near Pitlochry

We were lucky enough to have been offered a free upgrade on our rental car while we were in the UK last fall. The Audi A4 35 TDI is an amazing car!

The first day of cars and coffee has come to an end and we are heading back towards the city following @doctam3 in his Lamborghini Aventador Roadster 50° Anniversario. I still find myself thinking how lucky I am to get to spend time with all these amazing cars and more importantly the amazing owners.

I'm ending 2016 with a photo from my favorite event I attended this year, the CF Charities Supercar Show, not only was it incredible to see so many amazing cars in one location but more importantly the proceeds from the show went to a great cause.

Serenity, Jamnik, Slovenia

Last week, I set off from my rental apartment in Bled at 6.45am, and made the 30 minute drive south to Jamnik, expecting to arrive 30 minutes before sunrise however 1km from the parking spot at Jamnik, a tree had fallen across the road which resulted in a 30 minute delay while the local farmer arrived in his tractor to chainsaw the tree in pieces therefore clearing the road (thank heavens for farmers).

On arriving at Jamnik, I noticed that the small parking area at the head of the steps that take you down to the church was completely full of snow from where the tractor had ploughed the road. So I hastily pulled up and grabbed my snow shovel and spent ten minutes clearing a spot large enough to house my Land Rover Discovery Sport (what an amazing car this is in snow with winter tyres).

I wandered down to the ridge that houses the church at the end but the trees en-route are just perfect for capturing on camera, especially when snow is about. I was at this location in snow at the end of 2020 however there were plenty of footprints to contend with however on this occasion, there was nothing but virgin snow, unfettered by footprints. This really excited me and for the next two and a half hours, I wafted around the place with my camera and tripod shooting as many different scenes as I do.

I don't mind admittedly that I was in seventh heaven as these conditions are what us landscape photographers dream about but they very rarely happen. So here's three images (from the many I took) of the trees of Jamnik. More images to follow in due course.

Have a great day everyone

With such an amazing car I started exploring Europe. It all started with the cooking box and mattress in the early 90s. I'm always happy to see an old 123.

Second time I saw it that week. I was shocked to see it again! Definitly one of the most amazing cars I've seen in my life :)

It´s an amazing car, the Mercedes GLA 45

Monaco 2012

I was shocked when I saw this car driving to the hotel. Too bad it only stayed for a couple of minutes but what an amazing car!

Is always nice to see an amazing car like this in the streets of London.

Probably my best spot of my trip to London, the combination is simply stunning. Spotted this car in what appeared to be nothing special but there were some amazing cars! More shots of the other cars will follow!

Still on the hands of its first owner.

1938 very aerodynamic (for it's time) 540 K Supercharged Streamliner Coupe.

This amazing car was originally designed by the factory to mix comfort with speed on a planned long-distance race from Berlin to Rome in 1938.

The car featured a low profile, a minimum of exterior details and even underbody paneling, something that has only recently returned to production vehicles in the pursuit of wind-cheating abilities.

The end result, and thanks to the powerful 180-horsepower 5.4-liter in-line-eight, was a top speed of 115 mph. Unfortunately, it never got to test its Berlin-to-Rome abilities thanks to postponement of the event and then cancellation when the Second World War began, but the car still found use as a test vehicle for Dunlop tires.

Meanwhile, tire manufacturer Dunlop had contracted with Mercedes-Benz for a high-speed variant of the 540 K to advance its racing tire design. Completed in the spring of 1938, the special construction 540 K Streamliner was delivered to Dunlop in June by a Daimler-Benz dealership in Frankfurt am Main, and for nearly a year the car was used for its intended purpose. The newly-constructed (and sparsely traveled) German Autobahn proved ideal for high-speed tire testing

After the war the body was dismantled and later rediscovered by Mercedes.

The onset of World War II put an end to the proposed Berlin-to-Rome rally and soon after an end to non-essential travel by automobile. To preserve the 540 K Streamliner’s functional life, it was converted to run on LP gas, and it remained in the possession of Dunlop until late in the war. Records show it was later pressed into service by the United States Army, sprayed a standard-issue shade of olive drab in compliance with military regulations. In the postwar years, the car was returned to Dunlop, which later returned it to Mercedes-Benz; The car appearing at Pebble Beach is the work of 4,800 hours of restoration work.

That is.......600 eight hour days of work by expensive specialists....

On my way back from the French Riviera I came across a field of classic cars. Even though it looks like the cars have been spending some times in the field, the garage is brand new.

One year ago, there was not a single car to be found on this field!

I got the opportunity to photograph freely. There were some amazing cars.

I really can´t get enough from this amazing cars!!!

The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S was just named Motor Trend's Best Driver's Car for 2015. The GT S beat out some amazing cars including the Porsche Cayman GT4, the Mazda MX-5 Miata, the Bentley Continental GT3-R and many others.

1936 Bugatti Type 57 S (low chassis) with the classic 'French Sweep' paint job.

The Atalante body style was an interpretation of the 1935 Aérolithe Coupe, essentially a prototype that reached very limited production in 1936 as the Type 57 Atlantic. This amazing car used riveted panels to form a streamlined sports coupe.

As majestic and unusual as the Atlantic was, it wasn’t suitable for series production with its high set doors, fussy construction and split front window. The design was revised into the Atalante which included the Aérolithe’s teardrop shape, but with a flat windshield, a separate trunk area with recessed spare-tire and full-size doors that retained the signature kidney-bean windows.

On the 57S Atalante, Jean used a two-tone paint scheme that accentuated the use of his French curve on the side of the car. Typically, the car was black with an intense highlight color. On some cars, this accent dash extended around the entire cabin.

The basis for this remarkable car was Bugatti’s top-of-the-line Type 57S chassis. These were the same type that Jean-Pierre Wimille and Robert Benoist drove to win the 1937 24 Hours of Le Mans. It had a much lower chassis than the preceding Type 57 and also used complex de Ram shock absorbers. In many ways this was the ultimate Bugatti since no logical successor was ever produced. Some cars came with fitted superchargers, while others were retrofitted with them.

To maintain exclusivity, no two of the Type 57S Atalantes were the same. In detail, each was distinct and some major differences were introduced. For instance, two were made as Roll-Back Coupes with reclining soft-tops. Some of the first had independent headlights while others were sculpted into the body. Most featured skirted rear arches and wire wheels or polished aluminum hubcaps. Some of the more dramatic cars feature lengthened rear fenders. Essentially, where anyone tries to make a rule there is usually an exception.

With its streamlined styling and low-slung chassis, the Bugatti Type 57S Atalante was designed by Jean Bugatti as a 2-seater sports coupe, which soon became the rarest of the four body styles offered by the Bugatti factory. This Type 57S, the fifth Atalante produced one of 15 surviving, is known as the 'Casablanca' car. This car was ordered new by Miss Luci Vogt, the 25-year-old heiress to a potash mining fortune. Then, in 1957, it was purchased by Margaret Walker, an American stationed at the Consulate in Casablanca. She brought the car to the United States in 1960 and kept it for another ten years.

Tail light with carbon fiber on a 2015 Aston Martin Vulcan. All the Vulcans (>820 HP) used naturally aspirated V12s and were made for the track and only a single one was subsequently modified for the road. One of only 24 created for racing and priced initially at $2.3 Million.
