I know this seems a little crazy, but this tree is the reason for this past weekends hike. It is known as the 'Wally' Waldron Tree. It is a Limber Pine and it is estimated to be over 1500 years old. The Limber Pines supposedly only live at altitudes over 9,000 ft., so their habitat is rather limited. Where this one lives is at the top of Mount Baden-Powell in the San Gabriel Mountains in Southern CA. The hike to get to this one is about 4 miles one way. On a beautiful day, that would be no problem, but on this day, the weather at the summit was rather inhospitable. However, I wanted it to that way for this photograph. I really think it adds to the overall magnificants to this ultimate survivor of the elements. after spending about 30 minutes exploring the summit, the howling wind had numbed my fingers to the point of being painfully useless. That was my que to depart this gloriously, frozen, mountain top to the warmth of lower elevations.
Perched on a cliff on the central California coast, 50 miles south of San Francisco, the 115-foot Pigeon Point Lighthouse, one of the tallest lighthouses in America, has been guiding mariners since 1872.

She's got a smile that it seems to me
Reminds me of childhood memories
Where everything
Was as fresh as the bright blue sky
Now and then when I see her face
She takes me away to that special place
And if I'd stare too long
I'd probably break down and cry
Sweet child o' mine
Sweet love of mine
She's got eyes of the bluest skies
As if they thought of rain
I hate to look into those eyes
And see an ounce of pain
Her hair reminds me of a warm safe place
Where as a child I'd hide
And pray for the thunder
And the rain
To quietly pass me by
Sweet child o' mine
Sweet love of mine
Where do we go
Where do we go now
Where do we go
Sweet child o' mine
Walt Disney December 2008
I've had this in my computer for a year, and I just found it and was like... I love this :D
It's not an amazing capture, but it is my favorite thing in all of Disney World. (that means a lot coming from me)

because I can't help myself and its such a gorgeous little stream with lots to poke and prod under.
Besides I think we all know that I am TOTALLY mad and I will do what I want to do anyway.
I think everyone should find their own little stream to paddle in!!!
Jenny and Don, the owners of Mast Gully Gardens have seen the photos I have posted and loved them and said I can come and go as I please, whoooo hoooooo.
They have a gorgeous Mastiff called Ruby who I sat with for ages the other day, scratching her ear and having the most sensible conversation. Probably more sensible than I have had with the husband in the past 27 years!!!!
Good job he doesn't Flickr!!!
GORGEOUS SEEN LARGER
Quel souvenir de plongée !!!
Bien calé devant la vitre, mon souci était d'éviter les reflets sur le verre ... Ah confort des grands aquariums ! :-))
As I was walking back home from the campus this afternoon, I spotted this lone gorgeous rose in our next door neighbors front yard. Last summer, there were many such roses blooming on the plant, but at the moment, there was only the one. It was overcast and made it easier to capture without over-saturation, but I'm also shooting only RAW now. I was intrigued with the blend of colors and the moisture on the petals (it has been raining a lot here this past week). A wide aperture for a narrow depth of field and the rest is history... I love this shot. It isn't perfect, but it is mine (grin). The swans are awesome, and this is a hand held shot of them flying right above me. I am seldom able to get this close. Total weight for these 8 swans is about 500 pounds. These Arctic Tundra Swans are not the garden variety pantywaist swans that swim around a local pond. These swans migrate over 2,000 miles each way from the Arctic to Oregon, and they do it every year. I can hardly even imagine how difficult that would be.
