After a day of raining yesterday the weather changed in the afternoon. The sun started to shine and the day ended with a beautiful sunset. Recently I discovered this spot and tried it out. The reflections in the water were amazing. Beemster polder, 2018.

Living below sealevel: How do they do that? First build a Dike around the lake and a Ringvaart around the dike. Finally pump the lake empty and build the new land.
De Beemster Polder dateert uit het begin van de 17e eeuw. De polder heeft zijn goed geordende landschap van akkers, wegen, kanalen, dijken en nederzettingen – aangelegd volgens de principes van de klassieke en Renaissance-planning – behouden. De Beemster laat heel goed zien hoe Nederlanders grote delen van het land hebben drooggelegd. Deze droogmakerij is opgezet omdat het water de steden bedreigde en er behoefte was aan meer landbouwgrond. Om het meer werd een stevige dijk van 42 kilometer gelegd en daaromheen groef men een ringvaart. Met 43 windmolens werd het meer vervolgens leeggepompt. Op 19 mei 1612 was de polder droog.

Large, bright green parrot of humid evergreen forest in tropical lowlands. Uncommon. Found in rainforest and adjacent clearings, not in open habitats. Most often seen flying overhead early and late in the day, usually in pairs. Best field mark is the big pale eyering on a fairly plain head; with a good view, the bluish crown can be seen. Like other parrots in the same genus, in flight shows a red patch on the flight feathers. (eBird)

We visited a clay lick downriver from our lodge to see the parrots come in first thing in the morning. We had to be there before they arrived so it was a very early start in the dark. But so worth it. These Mealy Amazons (formerly known as Mealy Parrots) entertained us along with several other amazons and macaws.

As I have mentioned before, this is a depot. The museum is in restauration. There are so many paintings in the depot it is amazing!
Het Depot van Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen is het eerste publiek toegankelijke kunstdepot ter wereld. Het Depot staat naast Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen in Museumpark in Rotterdam. La végétation tropical ainsi que les nombreuses montagnes alentours semblent véritablement lui servir d'écrin naturel.

The Dolomites are a mountain range located in northeastern Italy. Typical of the Dolomites are the steep cliffs and peaks created by erosion and weathering. They form a part of the Southern Alps. The Dolomites, also known as the Pale Mountains, take their name from the carbonate rock dolomite. In August 2009, the Dolomites were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Marmolada of 3343 meter high is the highest mountain of the Dolomites. On it's norther side there is flat glacier. The ridge is composed of several summits, decreasing in altitude from west to east. An aerial tramway goes to the top of Punta Rocca. During the ski season the Marmolada's main ski run is opened for skiers and snowboarders alike, making it possible to ski down into the valley. On the south wall of the Marmolada there are beautiful routes for mountaineers and many of them are also suitable for hiking.
The Marmolada is the highest peak of the Dolomites UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site with its 3342 meters of altitude. Huge and lofty, the Marmolada welcomes for at least two centuries mountain and mountaineering enthusiasts from all over the world looking for adventures and challenges. The Via Ferrat Eterna is an easy 5th class climb as it has a fixed rope. Leave the glacier at the rope and then climb up the rocks, 100 vertical meters, up to the ridge. Enjoy the most complete and fulfilling landscape on the Dolomites from the amazing Punta Serauta 2962m.
De Dolomieten zijn een bergketen in Italië die deel uitmaakt van de Zuidelijke Alpen. In 2009 werden de Dolomieten toegevoegd aan de Werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO. Typisch voor de Dolomieten zijn de steile rotswanden en pieken, die zijn ontstaan door erosie en verwering. De bergketen is opgesplitst in twee delen: het oostelijke en het westelijke. De hoogste top van de Dolomieten, de Marmolada, is 3343 meter hoog. De Marmolada is een berg met een gletsjer. Nog ongeveer 15 andere bergen bereiken de grens van 3000 meter. Deze toppen zijn de hoogste bergtoppen in de Dolomieten en de Marmolada wordt daarom ook wel de koningin van de Dolomieten genoemd. De aanloop van de berg kan bereikt worden via de Fedaiapas. Je komt bij de Marmolada vanuit berghut Ciapela met een kabelbaan verdeeld in drie stukken: de eerste stopt bij Banc, de tweede gaat tot Serauta en de derde komt aan bij Punta Rocca. Vanaf hier gaat bij de berghut Ciapela de historische skipiste Bellunese naar beneden, 12 kilometer lang en zeker de mooiste piste van de Alpen. Op de zuidwand van de Marmolada zijn er prachtige routes voor bergbeklimmers en veel ervan zijn ook geschikt om te wandelen. De Via Ferrat Etrna is een 5e klas klim en redelijk te doen omdat het een vaste kabel heeft. Verlaat de gletsjer aan het touw en klim de rotsen op, 100 flink omhoog tot aan de rand. Geniet van een spectaculair uitzicht en het mooie landschap in de Dolomieten vanaf de verbazingwekkende Punta Serauta 2962m.

Jeder, der diesen wunderschönen Ort im Nordfjord besucht und ein paar Sommertage hier verbracht hat, wird immer wieder an diesen fantastischen Ort zurückkehren wollen. Der Fluss ist legendär für seine Fischerei, und die Menschen sind ebenso legendär für ihre Gastfreundschaft. Das Wasser kommt vom mächtigen Jostedalsbreen (Gletscher). Es ist das Wasser des Gletschers, das dem Fluss seine charakteristische türkisfarbene Farbe verleiht, die einen so bezaubernden Anblick bietet.
Ledereen die deze prachtige plek in Nordfjord heeft bezocht en hier een paar zomerdagen heeft doorgebracht, zal altijd terug willen naar deze geweldige plek. De rivier is legendarisch vanwege de visserij en de mensen zijn net zo legendarisch vanwege hun gastvrijheid. Het water komt van de machtige Jostedalsbreen (gletsjer). Het is het water van de gletsjer dat de rivier de karakteristieke turquoise kleur geeft die zo betoverend is om te bewonderen.
Każdy, kto odwiedził to piękne miejsce w Nordfjord i spędził tu kilka letnich dni, zawsze będzie chciał wrócić do tego niesamowitego miejsca. Rzeka słynie z połowów, a ludzie są równie legendarni ze względu na swoją gościnność. Woda pochodzi z potężnego lodowca Jostedalsbreen. To woda lodowca nadaje rzece charakterystyczny turkusowy kolor, który jest tak urzekający do podziwiania.
Todos los que han visitado este hermoso lugar en Nordfjord y han vivido unos días de verano aquí siempre querrán volver a este increíble lugar. El río es legendario por su pesca, y la gente es igualmente legendaria por su hospitalidad. El agua proviene del poderoso Jostedalsbreen (glaciar). Es el agua del glaciar la que le da al río el característico color turquesa que tanto encanta admirar.
